I have a ge spacemaker xl800 microwave. my child has pressed some button(don;'t know which one but now all the buttons are saying 'locked' what do i do?

GE manufactures various models of microwaves with a range of features.
Among them is a child safety feature that allows parents to lock the keypad. Though children can still open the door, the keypad lock prevents them from starting the microwave. The lock is in the form of a keypad code that renders the buttons inactive.


* 1 Press and hold the "Clear/Off" button on the microwave's keypad.
* 2 Hold the button down for three seconds.
* 3 Wait for the "L" on the keypad's display to disappear and display the time instead, signifying that the device is no longer locked.

I did same thing tried everything be pressing and holding the off button about 5 seconds it worked.

The same thing that Locked it will Unlock it. It is a child proof feature. To unlock it:

• hold the Clear/Off button down for 3 seconds, until it beeps and the screen will read "Unlocked"

Press and hold clear/off button for approx 5 seconds to lock/unlock. Be Safe

Press and hold the Clear/Off button for about 3 seconds again. This toggles the Child Lock.

(I used the model given above to check if the toggle command was the same or different from the lock command. If your microwave is a different model, try pressing the CANCEL button for about 3 seconds.)

It may be that the child lock has been operated accidentally, although if that were the case the POPCORN button should not work.

If the lock is on you should see an L in the display.

If the problem is the safely child lock you have to press and hold the
CLEAR/OFF button for about three seconds.

Hold lock button for a few seconds and it should return to normal

This sounds like the "child lockout" feature is on. Does the door open, but the microwave won't work. Press the "clear/off" button for 3 seconds or so if this is what you're experiencing. If not, I apologize for wasting your time.

The owner's manual for the NNV623 is here, and it says to turn the Child Lock off, press the Stop/Cancel pad three times.

To turn on the Child Lock, press Start three times.
