How do i make my Canon PowerShot A580 Digital Camera plays downloaded videos from the internet? The camera says "Unidentified Images" when I place the images/videos.

Have the images been edited outside the camera? If so then try saving the images using ZoomBrowser. I find this usually solves the problem.

iPhoto is for still pictures. iMovie is for videos. Use a card reader to download your videos to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import to iMovie or just play them using Quicktime.

Do what the pros do...use a card reader.

Please follow the below link to download the ZOOM Browser, it will download a file on your computer and then you will need to install it.

Click and open My Computer on Windows system, connect camera and turn it on. After a while, the computer will recognize the camera, a camera icon will show up, click and open on this camera icon, and you’ll see all the pictures there.

You think you can try photo recovery software to see if you can rescue the lost photos or movies, here are some you may rely on. Both programs can also recover videos and music.

Be careful: Before your pictures and videos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the memory card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

I would try formating the card using the camera (menu - setup - format) - THIS WILL ERASE ALL THE PICTURES YOU CURRENTLY HAVE ON YOUR CARD, so before you do this you may want to get a memory card reader and transfer the pictures (click and drag) to your computer. As to using the 4GB card...you will have to check with canon if a card that size if compatable. Not all cameras work with SD cards larger than 2GB.

I have the same problem with my Canon Powershot SX110IS. images dissapear with the notation "unidentified image". I brought my camera in to a local camera shop, and they were able to save the lost images. They told me I had an inexpensive, low quality memory card that is causing this problem. I upgraded to a high quality one and haven't had the problem since.
