Program that was just installed is not opening

Usually the best way to open a file created by a specific program is to install the program that created it.
So for example you would not be able to open a DNG file unless you had a program like Photoshop or Lightroom installed.
Here are some more possible reasons for not being able to open a file

The correct program is not installed.

The associated program to open the file is out-dated.

The registry entry of the file association is corrupted.

The file extension has not been associated with the correct program.

The file is corrupted by malware

Usually installing or re-installing the program that created or plays the file will fix these problems (after you have scanned your computer and eliminated any malware) be very wary of any tool on the web that offers a quick fix for this problem, and always scan anything you download with a virus checker/internet security suite.

You can try booting from installation disks and using Disk Utility from the installation disk menus to Repair your disk, and to Fix Permissions.

Select Default Programs is one way. As you install, say a media player, in the install you will see something like Choose as Default for all media or select media to open with this software, every Media player will offer this option and will default to ALL media, so with every install it will change, unless you read each box during install, don't just blindly click next, it's been known to add unnecessary Toolbars, change your Home Page, add Malware, etc., etc., etc. Which I'm sure you are aware of. You can open the File location, music, video, etc. right click, select Open With, select media player, OR, right click, select file, select Properties, Change, apply. OR use the Default Programs on the start menu. You should be in pretty good shape if you run and install all of these programs.

Download the jar file onto your desktop.

Go via Start - type Programs, open Programs, open ‘uninstall a program’, then click on the program and then on the button ‘uninstall’ above the list.
If this does not work, try uninstall using REVO uninstaller. Download Revo uninstaller, install and open, click on the program, then uninstall.

There are now several versions of the basic Futura software and AutoPunch available on the market. The most current is version 1.0.0.2. To determine what version of either software you have, you will find this information around the inside rim of the CD at approximately 4 o'clock. Before loading any of the Options into your computer, check the version and then follow the steps below. The following steps will update your software so that you will now have the latest 1.0.0.2 version of the basic program and all options.

To load base software 1.0.0.0 with AutoPunch 1.0.0.0 or base software 1.0.0.1 with Autopunch 1.0.0.1

• You must use bobbin part number 085128. This bobbin is specifically designed for the Futura CE-100 and CE-200.
• Load Base software (have machine set-up for embroidery with USB connected to both machine and computer - machine turned OFF)
• Turn on Futura machine and double left click on Futura icon to open program
• Close program and turn off the machine
• Install Autopunch and leave the CD in the tray

on starting the computer press ctrl+alt+delete
It gives the list of processes running. End process the applications which run from program files. Make sure you dont end process system applications
