A few months ago, my screen started to ficker and go white. It looks like a whole bunch of white lines, so much the whole screen turns white. Adjusting the monitor, pushing it back and forth, clears up the screen. Or tapping the top left speaker area, that also clears the screen. I've had the laptop for about 2 1/2 years now. Please explain what the problem is and if it's fixable. and if it is, what has to be done.

My TV began with a flash of white light then will turn itself off. It won't turn off every time the screen flashes. It started a month ago then worked trouble free until now and it began again. You can...

I hope you have a service plan for this set. Most likely--the CRT"s are going bad. This was a VERY common problem for Sony sets of this age. the CRT tubes SHOULD last a long time...BUT Sony had a BUNCH of the tubes that had 'contamination" on the cathodes of the guns...and after a few years..this 'flakes off" and shorts out the tubes. There WAS a recall on these a couple of years ago, but I am not sure about it now. You will need ALL 3 tubes to fix this problem. If it was me...I would try and find out if there is any way to get Sony to cover it..., if the set is not more than about 8years old.

Lines on screen

This happened to me once too. It is something with the monitor, which needs to be cleaned inside, that is all. Just take it to a mechanical store and they will fix it

Insignia 32" TV Thin line across screen 1-2" from top

The original white line problem was caused by improper adjustment of the vertical size for which there is an internal adjustment. The current problem could come from two different sources, one an adjustment again, the other from a capacitor that is losing capacitance and gaining losses; = sick.
If you are fortunate enough to have a surviving TV repair in your area, none of these problems is expensive to find or correct.
Don't be surprised to find the only TV shop operating out of a messy garage since those of us doing this kind of service are dying off and the price one can charge for labor has shrunken to the point that a real business address is too expensive to have.

HP Pavillion ZV5405 with Black/White vertical lines through screen

Will it boot from a CD/DVD? Make sure the boot sequence is set to boot CD first and then see if it will boot into setup from a CD/DVD. If it will, then maybe try reinstalling windows. Hope this helps.

White screen

You have an IF problem or a problem in the video driver circuit. If there is no sound I would tend to think there was an IF fault. No quickly fix here I'm afraid. Most likely this set will not be worth fixing. Good Luck
