Hi natutekaalla,

Welcome to FixYa! How are you doing?
You did not specify what Operating System you are using, whether Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.
When did the problem start? Were you able to hear sound before?

  • Please check if the sound is not set to mute.

  • Try to reinstall the audio driver. You can re-install the audio driver by using the drivers disc that came with your computer or you can download it from the ff:

  1. If you are using Windows XP, you can download the audio driver here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R215598&SystemID=LAT_2100&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=20480&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=3&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=305909
  2. If you are using Windows Vista, you can download the audio driver here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R215596&SystemID=LAT_2100&servicetag=&os=WLH&osl=en&deviceid=20480&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=3&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=305907
  3. If you are using Windows 7, you can download the audio driver here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R274071&SystemID=LAT_2100&servicetag=&os=W732&osl=en&deviceid=20480&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=3&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=404527

Hope that helps. Thank you for using FixYa.

Dell latitude wont play mp4 video

dvancavage,

Your problem might be missing codecs. A codec (compressor/decompressor) is used to 'decode' a video or sound. A video practically needs 2 codecs; a video codec and an audio codec.

To resolve your issue, try installing K-Lite Codec Pack Pro. This will ensure you to play all types of videos and music in your computer. Install the program without changing the settings if you don't know how to change them.

Also, I suggest you un-install any other Media Players that you have and leave Windows Media Player 11 (upgrade it to 11; it's free!), QuickTime and iTunes. Set Windows Media Player 11 as your default too so you can automatically play all the files you want with WMP11. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_li...
K-Lite Codec Pack! Download the latest PRO version/ It's FREE!

Thank You,

Dell Latitude D800 PC Notebook" Problem No sound

Which sounds? Do system sounds work? Are you unable to hear music from CDs?
There could be one of several things wrong. In the device manager, you will need to check to see if you have a sound card that is functioning. In Accessories>entertainment, you need to check the sound settings to be sure your speakers are not muted.
Most often it's a sound driver issue. When you go into sounds from the control panel and try to play system sounds, the little arrow that lets you test the sound is grayed out--meaning you have no sound drivers.
If it seems to be playing, then you have either turned the volume down or off or you have a problem with the hardware.

The audio is plaing but there are no sounds. I did

hi Steve

I have read your problem and I think that your sound driver is malfunctioning.

Download the sound driver from the Dell's website for your system model.

Reinstall the sound driver and restart the system. This will get you your sound back.

Thank you
