Turn the unit OFF and unplug it. Disconnect the hose from the outlet on the unit. Using a plastic 18" Zip Tie, that will fit easily into the drain outlet, carefully insert the Zip Tie and insert it as far as you can. You will reach a bend in the tubing, so gingerly work it past that bend. Once the Zip Tie has reached as far as it will allow, start pulling it slowly back out, while rotating it. This will dislodge any clogs, so be ready for water to follow. It also would be wise, to clean out the tube or hole that drains into the bucket, as it may also have a clog in it.

Hope this helps you to solve the problem, Joanne.

Had the same problem and had to remove the back and clean the sludge evident in the catch tray. Next time I'll just put the wet-vac nozzle on the hose connector.

My Danby DDR606 runs hot. I have the hose direct drain into the water drain in my basement. What is causing it to get hot?

It's probably running continuously.

If so, its either set that way (or for too low humidity) or the unit is undersized for the area / humidity level. Check for sources of humidity that can be controlled otherwise, or add another unit.

Please rate 4 stars if this is helpful. Thanks and good luck!

Is there a place to connect a hose so dehumidifier will drain into a basement drain?

You don't say what manufacturer or model unit you have, but many models have places at the bottom of the collection pan for a hose connection. Just remember that the basement drain must be lower than the top of the drain pan or the pan will not drain out of the hose.

Direct drain

2 possibilities: #1The port that you plugged the hose onto need to be drilled so the water can come out and enter the hose. #2 The hose cannot be higher at ANY point than the bucket. Physics rules apply and the water will always fill the lowest point. Keep the hose low or raise the dehumidifier up.

I own a Whirlpool Dehumidifer Model Number AD 70USS1. I have a drain hose connected to the unit, however, recently the unit's internal collection bucket fills with water to the point that the...

superstee - You're having to empty it because either the drain hose you have connected to the unit is clogged or the drain hole a the hose connection is clogged. Therefor, the water is drained into the tank, rather than the drain hose. Also, the drain hose would not be any longer than 5' and must drain down, as the dehumidifier does not have a pump. It relies totally on gravity.

Remove the hose and check it for clogs. If clear check the drain hose connection, using an 18" long appropriately sized Zip Tie. Carefully insert the Zip Tie and continue to push it in until you reach the bend in the tubing. Gingerly work past this bend, until the Zip Tie bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. The while slowly pulling it out, rotate the Zip Tie. This will dislodge the clog. As you reach the end of the Zip Tie removal, be prepared for some water to follow. CAUTION: BEFORE DOING ANY OF THE ABOVE TURN THE MASTER ON/OFF SWITCH TO OFF AND UNPLUG THE UNIT.

The above should solve the problem for you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Unit not discharging through garden hose. Just cleaned unit inside and out. Works great, BUT, only discharges into its container. What am I missing. Cleaned all hoses - no blockages. What should I be...

The blockage is not in the hose, it's inside the hose connection drain tube. To clear this clog, you will need an 18" long plastic Zip Tie, sized to fit into the drain hole. You can use something similar, but NO wire coat hangers. Carefully thread the Zip Tie into the hole and continue to firmly, yet gently work it in, until it reaches a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work it past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of Zip Tie. Then slowly pull it back out while rotating it. This will help remove the clog. Once you have pulled it almost all the way out, be prepared for some water to follow.

That should solve the problem for you. Please let me know. Thanks.

P1 constantly goes on throughout the day. I do not know if I have the setting right or if the drain hose is connected properly.

First, the drain hose should not be longer than 5 feet and should be draining downward, with no kings or bends in the hose, The dehumidifier does not have a pump. It relies on gravity to drain the water.

As far as it running all day is concerned, some dehumidifiers have a "Constant" or "Continual" setting. Which means it runs constantly. Either while dehumidifying or defrosting. In addition, most Danby dehumidifier models are designed to have the fan run even when the compressor is not running. This is in order to circulate the air in the room and make the unit work more efficiently. This is a standard feature and cannot be programmed to stop.

Hope this answered you questions.

Help! Water keeps filling the tank instead of going out the hose

Had the same problem. Make sure you tighten the house a little with pliers. Also, make sure the dehumidifier is up a lot higher than where you're draining it into. Mine drains into a utility sink. But I have the dehumidifier propped up onto a dresser. I cut a small piece of hose to run into the sink. Seems to be working now.

It will take 5 min or so to establish a water flow, so be patient after you hook everything up. Good luck.
