If you are low on refrigerant, the gas will flash on the top part of the evaporator and not throughout the unit. So the top part will be nice and cold and the bottom part will be no where near the top temps. Check for a leak, fix it and then refill unit to specs taking care that the exact amount of refrigerant called for is used.

I had a similar problem a couple years back with my freezer. Behind the vent cover in the back there were a few lines that ran the cooling or something like that. What happened was my freezer was icing up horribly. I was told to take that panel off and check those lines. Sure enough one of the lines was busted through. That was why my freezer was having problems. I apoligize I don't know anything about the front buttons tho.

Very little info to go on, but it would have to be water valve, lines going to and from valve, ice maker, or defrost drain leaking from being stopped up.

you have a defrost problem, three things..

one, defrost heater could be bad,

two, bi-metal could be bad,
and three, the timer could be bad.

any of these three items getting bad would result to one symptom.

ice buid up at the bottom of freezer section.
