I've got a 1TB Iomega External drive, the drive in side is ticking over trying to start, this also will not show up in my devices cosole when i look for it

if your getting a clicking noise then the hard drive is dead. If you need to recover data then you will need to send it to a data recovery professional.

I just received an Iomega 1TB Desktop Hard Drive from Amazon.com but it won't work. I unpacked it, I plugged the provided power supply into an outlet as well as the USB cable into my Windows XP computer....

I just had one ofthe Select Hard Drives do that. I bought it, let it warm up till the next day, plugged it in and NOTHING. It was never recognized by the computer, never came up in the disk management area and made very little if any noise. Finally after much trouble shooting with one of their techs doing all the things I had already tried like changing out the cable and the power cord for different ones they decided it was a DOA drive. They sent me a new one after I sent the original new one back to them.

Before you call them you might want to try the same thing. Try a different data cable and a different power cord (not at the same time or you won't know which was bad if it does work!) and then you can call the tech and tell him what you tried.

Good luck. I doubt I will ever buy another Iomega drive.

I NEED A NEW POWER CABLE

Please note if you cable is faulty. Meaning not powering your unit up KODAK will exchange the cable free of charge if the frame is covered under warranty.

If not you will need to purchace a new cable: Either online or by calling the service centre:

contact KODAK in order to arrange a repair or order a new cable. Remember your cable is covered under the same warranty as your frame, so remember your serial number when calling:

Iomega terrabyte drive MDHD10T-U2 does not mount, ticking noise

I followed richiegrier solution above - my drive began clicking and did not run. I determined both drives worked and that it was the power supply (apparantly I'm not the only one with this problem. I purchased a NexstarMX dual HDD enclosure. I opened it, flipped the switch up to the JBOD mode, and installedd my two drives. Initially the configuration recognized a single 900+ GB drive, which was empty. I used the safely remove hardware icon, powered down the unit, and switched the positions of the drives - VOILA!!! the computer recognized the drives and all the files are back online, precisely. A couple caveats - the drives when in JBOD mode are A and B, although there is no obvious way to tell them apart - Like a book, A appears to have the directory for the combined drive. When mounted in reverse, the computer did not read the directory, and assumed it was empty. When I reversed the drives, my drive came up, flawlessly with no input from me. THANK YOU. Do not format or create a new partition or you will lose data. I also purchased a 2 TB drive for back up, and will immediately begin a second copy of all the data on this drive so I do not have a disaster. Thanks again for saving me from disaster.

1T external will not mount on Mac OSX. It worked fine but just stopped. Have tried other computers and cables but nothing. It is getting power. Model #MDHD10T-U2 Serial #JPA7470874

This needs to be formatted before it can be used on a Mac.
  1. Launch Disk Utility by selecting ApplicationsUtilitiesDisk Utilities
  2. Click on the active partition to select it.
  3. Click on the Erase tab.
  4. Select MS-DOS (FAT) from the Volume Format drop-down menu.
  5. Click on the Erase button.
  6. When Disk Utility is finished erasing the disk, click on the active partition and ensure that the Format field at the bottom of the Disk Utility window says that the volume is MS-DOS (FAT32).
  7. You can now quit Disk Utility.

Lost sparepart

It is called a bobbin case and most sewing dealers will have this one. It should be a standard case with a finger sticking up from the top. If you have metal bobbins they probably have a lot of holes in them.
