Question about KEF Audio KIT100 System

Kit100psw relay chattering

Recently my subwoofer has started having a loud, obnoxious buzzing noise. There is no repair center close to me, but I've seen mention of a pdf file that can be sent with schematics or a repair procedure. I opened the unit and can't decide which relay is the source, the vibration carries through the entire daughterboard, however when I unplugged the large toroid on the bottom rear the relay stopped chattering. Can you please send the pdf file to '[email protected]', thank you.

For those still waiting for the answer. Try and change C383, install new capasitor 47uF/63V 105C. This will probably solv the buzz.

Klh powered subwoofer model ASW10-120B... when you plug in to power... it makes a loud buzzing/humming noise

I would check the caps on the power supply. They are rather large electrolytic capacitors that will look like they burst and/or leaking. When these die, the caps ground and the sub will make a loud buzzing sound. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can replace them yourself. Replace them with the same voltage or a little bigger and same with the size.

If the cap. says 16v 4700pF on it, for example, a 20v 5300pF or a 16v 6200mF cap. will work for this application.

Loud buzzing noise.

If you pull out the "input" cables and the noise stops, you have a problem with the "ground" and you have to check if there isn't a loose contact inside the plugs. If it doesn't stop, your amplifier is the problem and that mostly is a bad contact on the board in the pre-amplifier area.

I have a buzzing noise through my MG50dfx every time I use the foot switch and have changed to the over dive/distorted sound. Any help would be wonderful?

Has it always done this? If it's just a mild hissing sound, chances are it's normal. If it's a loud obnoxious buzz, is your gain cranked all the way up? If it is, turn it down about half way and see if it goes away. If not, take it in to a good guitar store for service/diagnosis.

When I plug it up it makes a loud buzzing humming sound that's unconteollable with the volume.

Buzzing is usally AC line noise leaking into an un-shielded cable somewhere or a floating ground. If the AC plug is reversable, try that. make sure all audio cables are pluh\gged in tightly at each end and routed away from or at right angles to any power cords and away from other sources of strong magnetic fields like TV's. I've also seen variable track lights induce noise but it's usually minor.

If it still does it with no cables attached it's an internal amp problem.

People, the first words the poster said were that the dryer was "brand new". All of your suggestions assume the dryer had extensive use. This sounds like a factory defect issue!!!! My brand new Maytag Cabrio gas dryer is also making an obnoxious buzzing sound that seems to cycle on and off as the gas ignites. The buzzing sounds electronic not mechanical. What would buzz when the burner is active?

Loud buzzing from Kef PSW1000 Subwoofer

yes. A good idea. Kill power to the sub, then unplug and remove everything from the sub. go ahead and plug it in again and check for buzzzz.
That is test one. if you have buzz still, its the sub assembly. bad luck, but not impossible. If the buzz is gone its one of the signals to the sub. They can produce a buzzz without any signal coming from your stereo equipment. Replace the feed line, enjoy! BTW...Kef sure does sound clean. good choice.

Sounds like something may have got past your filter and is touching the main pump impeller eg piece of broken glass or piece of plastic.I,ve even seen a spoon touching the impeller. You may have to take the bottom off the machine and remove the pump if you can,t see anything under the filter,Hope this helps. Regards Stefan.

If the sound is more of a low hum than a buzz, you probably have bad capacitors in the power supply...Time to take it to a shop.
