For the model dryer you have listed, the easiest way to access the door switch is to lift the top panel. The switch can then be removed and replaced by following these steps:

1. UNPLUG the dryer and remove the lint screen.

2. Remove the two screws that were under the lint screen and lift the top panel.

3. Unplug the door switch connector plug and any ground wire that may be installed on the casing.

4. Remove defective switch and replace.

NOTE: Now would be a good time to do a routine inspection and cleaning of the interior dryer cabinet to ensure there's no lint build up.

Once repairs are completed, lower the top panel back in place and reinstall the two screws along the lint screen opening.

NOTE: Placing a piece of duct tape over the dryer vent chute will help safeguard against dropping anything down in the blower fan assembly. If you drop any screws down the chute, you will need to remove the dryer back panel to retrieve them.

If you have any questions about this repair, or if the model number is different, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Were is the reset button onwhirlpool model ler4634bq1

There is no "reset" button. If the light stays on it is almost certain your door switch is broken. The door switch turns the light on/off when the door is opened/closed, and likewise allows the dryer to turn on/off when the door is closed/opened. These switches do break and are relatively easy to change. First, ALWAYS DISCONNECT APPLIANCE FROM POWER; second, remove lint filter screen and unscrew the two phillips screws located on the dryer top next to the lint screen handle; third, using a putty knife release the top retention clips located at the front near each side in the gap between the top and front panels; fourth, swing the top up and back out of the way and remove the two 1/4" hex head screws located inside the cabinet on either side near the top that hold the front panel in place; fifth, disconnect the door switch wiring from the plug connection and lift the front panel up and away from the cabinet. Now you can replace the door switch and reassemble in reverse order.

How do i change the belt on a model No. DE308 maytag dryer

Hi

To change the belt you'll need to remove the top paenl and then remove the drum and you would be able to see the belt. You can disassemble it by the following procedure--

Drum Removal / Roller / Glide Access--

  • Disconnect power supply to unit.
  • Remove Top Cover and Front Panel,

Top Cover / Door Switch / Front Panel /Gasket Removal-

1. Disconnect power supply to unit.
2. Use a plastic putty knife to depress the locking clip between the Top Cover and Front Panel.
3. Disconnect wiring from the Door Switch.
4. Depress the locking tabs on switch side and remove through the front.
5. Remove two screws, 1 each side, from the back flange of the Front Panel.
6. Tip Front Panel back and remove. Rotate Front Panel to the back side and remove gasket.

Hope this helps...

I need to replace a door switch on a Kenmore Dryer

I'm not too familiar with the model but you either have screws that are just above the door (open the door first) or two metal tabs in the front that hold the top on the dryer. The two metal tabs can be seen if you take a flashlight and look where the top meets the front about 8" from each side roughly. A flatblade screwdriver inserted at the top of these fasteners will release them from the top. Next have a 5/16 nut driver to remove the two screws on each side holding the front onto the sides. There may be screws at the bottom as well. You may not have to remove the front at all. Also HAVE THE POWER DISCONNECTED! Don't want ya to get fried. Remove the leads from the door switch on the right and remove.

Change hook in the door

the front door panel clicks off with the help of a butter knife! then you are able to unscrew 2 fixings with a 5sided star star-shaped key (or in the absence of this specialist a 2.0mm 6-sided hex allen key will do). the broken hook can then be removed backwards out of the door and the new one put in.

Duet Dryer

Hi kroeter,
It is possible to reach the door switch by removing the bottom front plate on the dryer. You will see it above the right side. Before you reach into this section please make sure to unplug your dryer. If you need full access to the switch you will need to remove the top then the console then remove the entire front. You will need some torx screwdrivers. Start by removing the torx screws on the back top, then the top will slide back and you can remove it. Underneath that you will see the top of the console on the front, remove the screws in the console and lift it to remove. then you will be to the top of the door section again you will see torx screws, remove and lift the door section and you will be to the door switch. Good luck and I hope this will FixYa.

B door open

There are two switches, so if you changed the one that was working....

Possible parts affected could be
- cover top
- cover fuser
- cover front assembly
- the switch
1) check the condition of the cover - top, front assembly and cover fuser closed?
2) on the cover top there is an "actuator", a plastic bit, which presses down on the switch assembly top - is that plastic bit broken, bent or deformed?
3) on the cover front assembly there is also an "actuator", check this
4) and of course same for the fuser cover
5) top cover, check the switch, disconnect the switch (P116-1) and press/release it - does that make a difference. If not replace switch
6) same procedure with the switch (P115-1) for front cover.
