Re: coby mp-c827 mp3 player
Your probably using the usb extension cable, plug the unit directly into one of the rear ports on your computer tower and it should show up..these units never break..unless there is physical damage itself.

Initially, you can hold down the power button down for 20seconds to do a reset.
You should do the "safely remove" procedure when unplugging the MP3 player from the computer's USB port, otherwise it will get fried and damaged over time. If you have just been simply pulling the plug off all these times, then I guess that was what happened - the battery got fried. Anyway, just try to plug your MP3 player to another USB port on the computer or better yet, to other computer's usb port.
Yes, the red light should be turned ON after connecting the Reader to te Computer. That means the Reader is taking charge. After getting it fully charged, the red light will be turned ON. If those things will not happen to your reader, perform the below mentioned stepos::
1. Connect the Reader to a different USB port of the Computer. 2. Connect the Reader directly to the USB port of the Computer; dont use any USB hub or adaptor to connect the Readr to the Comp. 3. Disconnect the Reader and then press the RESET button. 4. Try connecting the Reader to a different Computer to check whether the USB port of the Computer is working properly. 5. If the issue still persists, service may be required. Follow the below link to initiate the repair: http://eservice.sony.com/
Dragonclu your fix is very good if this was a computer unfortunately you did not read the problem correctly this is about a standalone stereo system NOT a computer or a computer program. Your problem maybe that your Creative MP3 player is registering as a portable media player which the stereo system does not support chech if theres an option in your MP3 Player to use USB Mass Storage which the stereo system will read and playback
I'm not sure which Coby I have but my computer wouldn't read it when I plugged it into the USB port. What worked for me was to take out the battery, plug it into the USB port, add a couple of mp3 songs, unplug it and plug it back in. It was recognized with all the existing media on it and I could edit and delete. Hopefully you have room to add an mp3 or two. My solution last time it happened was to reformat and reload.
Step one is try it on another computer. This will seperate issues....is it the drive or the USB port (hardware or software actully in both cases are possible. Step two, if it works elsewhere, is to check under device manager, and reinstall the driver (if not embedded in the drive which most are)....both USB and the disk. Step three is to download (again assuming it did not work) the disk diagnostics from Memorex (most drive manufacturers have a host of utilities and they may exist even for flash drives - they use them internal to their mfg operations as well). Check to see if it's good. It is possible that it just lost the embedded driver by the way in which case you need to put it back on the drive...haven't done that but assume it's possible and available.
Can give you more "stuff" to do but this will probably solve the problem....and I am guessing it died. If it did they are not expensive...and even cheaper if you really don't need 4 gb...few people do for personal and even work data. Check at pricewatch.com (not a seller) for pricing. This site is used by GEEKS United for finding "stuff".
