Knowing the importance of this specific case I would highly recommend calling the factory and having the read the chip (s) and retrieve the data aside from that there's no other way for a consumer to retrieve lost greetings unless you might have had it pre-recorded somewheres just in case he wasnt there and you needed to reset up your answering machine. Sorry, the digital memory can't be restored ones the power is cut or the messages are erased. Some high tech lab somewhere FBI/CIA maybe just maybe could do it but no noting we can do about it.
you can try a old trick of holding down the play button for 10 or more seconds.
1. Forget about getting the computer to recognize the camera. Do what the pros do...use a card reader instead of the camera and download to a folder you create on the desktop.
2. Sorry, but "format" completely erases the card with no hope of retrieval.
unplug NOW before someone tapes a messages over the "deleated"one try plugging back to power after machine has had 5min downtime this may 'reset' so you can retrieve if this does not work call manufactor they may know a trick but do not reconnect because if someone tapes over its gone!
sorry it sounds like the folder may be lost forever.once you pressed the record button, the recorder knew it as a new recording in that folder.look at it like a answering machine going out message. if you made a mistake,and you wanted to record a new message,the old message would be erased.if your folder was on a cassette recorder, you would have only erased those few seconds.
