Integra DTR-7 damaged during lightning storm.

Even though my receiver was plugged into a surge protector, during a lightening storm it was damaged. It still powers up, and I do get sound (an intermittent humming that increases and decreases when the volume is turned up and down) but nothing plays in any mode. Any ideas on what may be the problem?

I checked inside the receiver. There is a 12A 250V #314 fast acting ceramic fuse that protect the circuits from overload and power surges. I'm going to swap it out tomorrow. I'll let you know if in fact I solved my own problem.

Replaced the fuse. Sadley, the fuse was not the solution. Still waiting to hear from you guys with any ideas.

I have the same receiver. However, after mine took a hit from a storm it will only play decently in direct mode. Anything played through the DSP has a hissing sound to it. With that being said, I would have to say my DSP board got hit. I don't know how much money it would cost to get it fixed.

I have the DTR-7.1 model and the DSP board went on it as well. Works fine in direct mode and intermittently when DSP mode is enabled.

I brought to an authorized dealer for repair but I was told that the part is no longer available.

SOURCE: Low to no volume output from Integra DTR-5.2 receiver

most higher end integra's have a input level adjusment or input selection for each and every input. Perhaps you are not on the correct input, go to onscreen programming and check out the input level and input select - also try the tape in another input like tape 2 or cd. It will not hurt the receiver for a test. Also, if you are using the cheap cables from the manufacturer - try a pair of cables that you know work or go by some. BTW, you don't need to spend $40 for cables order them online through amazon or other store. Gold / sliver plated oxygen free are best.

Please unplug the unit from the outlet for 15 mins and then check if the symptoms still there.
Reset the unit to factory setting by following the steps below.

> Power on the unit.
> Press VCR/DVR button key + On/standby key at the same time to re-initialized the memory to factory settings.

Check also if the remote control is working fine. Aim the sensor of the remote control directly to your cellphone camera, while pressing any button key from the remote control (button key with an issue) you will be able to see the flash of an infrared emitted by the remote control indicating that it is working fine. Watch the video below for more info.

After a lightening storm, my power surge strip got hit and damaged everything that was attached to it (i.e. the internet modem, blu-ray player, and Samsung TV). Our TV only has a blue screen. Help

Yep, power spikes kill. Power spikes kill all. Power spikes kill all forever. Replace all and get a new surge protector that costs at least $99. If you never need it it is called insurance. I am in FL the capitol of lightning. High priced surge protectors are cheeeeep when lightning is there.

My HDTV went out in a lightening storm. What could it be?

Is your TV plugged into a surge protector? If not it very well may have gotten a power surge during the lightening storm that fried components in the TV.
Or is the TV connected to a cable box? It could be that the cable box took the hit if it's not plugged into a surge protector.
Or a possibility of both.

Samsung TV won't turn on after lightening storm. Surge protector "sparked once, but all the other things plugged in are operating.

Contact your insurance company and make a claim. Lightning damage to electronics like that is hard to repair.

How do i stop lightning from getting in my hdmi lines and shocking my tv? 5 tvs went down in one storm

I would recommend getting a surge protector and using that to protect your televisions. This usually will stop something the lightning from killing your tv's.. I have a surge protector and can still use my tv, computer, anything I have plugged in during a storm.

After a lightning storm my bosch single 30" wall oven displayed an F03 err. I turned the power supply off at the breaker for one minute as directed by the oven's manual. This action did not...

Find out what the F03 error is for and then check out the appropriate area. If there was a strike of surge the most likely place to look for damage is the area where the electricity first enters into the device.

Lightning storm & power went out for about two seconds. PC plugged into surge protector but would not go back on. Found that surge protector blew and was no good. Got another and plugged all back in...

Your reasoning about the switch mode power supply being damaged is probably right.
Bear in mind that this power supply may not be the only thing that may be damaged in your computer.
You won't know for sure until you borrow a power supply and install it into your computer to see if it will work again.

I have a dial up connection hooked through a surge protector. After a lightning storm I could no longer dial up,the problem is in the computer, was wondering if the modem is bad.

Sounds as though the modem has been spiked by the lightening flash, even surge protectors can fail to protect in heavy weather. By another modem ..... they are pretty cheap nowadays.

After my house was it by lightning my Onkyo

If your receiver was connected to any power source and that power source was not a surge protector strip there may be damage to the receiver as lighting travels. Another thing to consider is the fact that many people will put their equipment on surge protectors but the cable is still connected to the TV etc...This is just another avenue for the lightning to get into the home and blow up your system. I always disconnect any cable from my computer and TV. The power source from the wall is also unplugged when there is a storm just to be sure. Surge protectors are limited in their use as well. I don't believe they can take too many lightning hits. It is best to change them out.

Computer power won't turn on

First thing to do is try to plug the pc in another wall socket to see if it goes on, If not, the MB could have gotten fried, even though the other plugs seem to work. Hopfully you just need another surge protector as that could have gotten damaged.
