I do not know how to discharge and remove de flyback of a philips 50P8341 rear projection TV in a safety way. I have tried to insert a flat screwdriver grounded into the plastic that covers the anodes of the 3 CRTs but I can't. These are in a very unconfortable position. Is there any other way to discharge the flyback?

Yes,just don't touch or mess around with the flyback right away, when u just unplug the tv or the highvoltage of the flyback will give u a very big and heavy shock and can hurt u badly.Wait like about an hour later. Now take the lead wire from ur voltemeter used it as a tool to grounded it some where in the tv metal frame and used the other side of the lead touches around the flyback for discharges.Than just do what u want to do to the flyback now.

I need to change the flyback of my TV Philips of rear projection model 50P8341. I do not Know how to remove the damage flyback. First, I tried to remove the anodes that are connected to each of the three...

Leave the CRT's alone!!!!! You will ruin them. The red wires come out of the Fly-back. Pull the rubber caps up and then with a twisting motion pull each red wire out 1 at a time.

My tv shuts off on it's own and the picture is terrible the color is very much out of adjustment

This sounds like your flyback is going out or has gone out! (part is around $70.00 but have a pro do it because the flyback can hold high voltage

Problem with tv 50p8341 might have found the solution

The green line across the TV if its in the middle is usually loss of vertical deflection so that can shut the tubes down for protective purposes. Check the vertical output IC thats what is most likely causing the problem. The flyback is working if theres a green line across the middle of the screen.

yes its dangerous because of its high voltage, but you can remove it yourself, just unplugged the power cord, then get a screw driver insert it to the high caps connected in the flyback its color red push the pin inside and pull it off be sure not to touch the metal part of your screw driver, then thats the time to unsolder it...
