Question about Frigidaire Ovens
I have a Frigidaire Elite - Electri Clean single wall oven. It came with the purchase of our house, & I think it is about 15+ years old. I don't have the manual so I don't know the Model #. It is heating 50 degrees too hot. There is no way for me to calibrate with the heating knob. Does this mean I have to have an electrician come and fix it, and if so, would he have to take the oven out of the wall? It is installed under a built-in microwave & on top of that are cabinets. I can't see how anyone could take it out without tearing out the microwave, too. Am I wrong?
I cannot afford to get a new oven. I rarely use this one because even with a temp. monitor, it still doesn't seem to back things properly.
Any advice on this?
I just got one of these for my 4 yo daughter and had the same problem after 2 days. GOOD NEWS IS IT IS FIXED. The problem was crumbs stuck between the edges of the screen and the frame piece around the edge of the screen. I assume this was creatintg pressure in 2 places at once, confusing the screen/software and not showing a target on the calibration screen.
I used a toothpick to remove the visible crumbs, but if you have a can of compressed air used for computer cleaning, than that might be even a better idea. It seems that screen problems were chronic back in 2004, but no so much now. I learned about this here: http://www.watercoolergames.org/archives/000028.shtml
GOOD LUCK and post back if it works as it is simple and maybe some of the other people with problems have ths same simple issue.

put a blank file called welcome.not (make using notepad) onto the removable storage card this will bypass the startup screen and mean it does not jam into this look on startup
down load a file phm registry edit... (search on internet) put the cab onto the phone... in stall.. and run
set the sensitivity on this to 20, you can then calibrate the screen... you can try stepping it to 18 16 14 and 10..
this will cure the problem

Unplug your machine, restart it and try to calibrate it one more time. I had to do this with mine and it did take more than one try to get it to recalibrate again.

Tips for a great answer:
Hello friend, thank you for your post!
Based off the information you have provided the door on your Frigidaire wall oven is not unlocking. Performing a reset on your oven can trigger the door latch to unlock, in order to reset your oven you would need to disconnect power from it for roughly ten minutes. If this does not resolve your issue with your oven you can also hold down the clear or cancel button for 10 to 15 seconds.
Another step you can attempt is to perform a self-clean cycle and before the cycle starts cancel it and that can trick your oven into unlocking. If these troubleshooting steps do not help correct the problem it could be a faulty door latch or control panel. I hope this information has been helpful. -Matt
