I have the same problem on my tv, the blue comes and goes. Its all over the picture always moving around the top of the screen. The tech came out and adjusted the voltage. It worked well for 6 months and now I have the same issue. What is causing this to keep going out of sync.

I need to know if my computer is still under warranty. For some time now it has a pink screen on it. This varies from a worm like effect to a carbon type smudge. It apparentely is a screen defect as when...

Hi s_anderson,

I think I understand the question, which is based on a defective screen, the questions are

1) Is your machine under warranty.

a) Typically you have 1 to 3 months from the dealer that you purchased it from ****Smith from the date on the invoice. You have usually 1 year warranty from Acer.

2) Who should you contact regarding the problem?

a) I'd look at the invoice date first and see if it falls within the 1-3 months, then contact the dealer, 1 year then contact Acer, and if it's over 1 year old, then contact a repair person to repair it. I might add that even if it's older than 1 year, I'd call Acer support to question to see if they can resolve the problem over the phone, and if not, ask them to suggest a technian that you can trust.

Good Luck

How to end Compaq CQ70 misery

I have owned a CQ70 for 2 years 2 months. Before I reveal my tips, here's my experience:
On purchase:
- quick start guide doesn't even show keys and switches, how to use camera, etc
- no software or manual supplied, only useless safety guide CD
- request for info to Compaq online: they returned a form to let them know how well they had served me when they hadn't served me at all
- subsequent requests unanswered
- complaint to www2.hp.com returned a worm called HTML-script-inf
First year:
- keyboard failed after 2 months; replaced under warranty
- screen failed after just under a year; replaced under warranty
- sound regularly disappears; have to reboot
- carrying bag burst within 6 months
- SD card reader worked intermittently for a few months, then not at all
Second year:
- I accidentally discovered the touchpad disable button; it doesn't work
- battery expired after 18 months
- replacement screen started to fail after 18 months
Now:
- replacement screen failed completely after 2 years 2 months
- I get electric shocks off the left side
- it generates constant flow of "Enter" commands; keyboard, mouse, USB ports cleaned to no avail; clears on reboot for a few hours (no viruses / worms - I regularly check)
- the HDD will not start spinning on mains power; I have to remove power cord and start on battery only, then replace power cord

Tip #1: I understand from a friend who works for HP that the good components go into the HP series and all the s*** into the Compaq series, so DON'T BUY COMPAQ.
Tip #2: If you have already bought one, put it in the bin or use it for landfill
Tip #3: If you want a reliable computer that will last for years, buy a cheap and cheerful Taiwanese no-brand. We've got two - they're great.

Tips on Is Shelf Life for Makeup

Every woman we know has a pile of makeup in her drawer that she "sometimes" uses. Translation: Never uses, but keeps just in case she finally learns how to properly apply blue eyeshadow.<br /><br />Beauty products do have a shelf life, however, and chances are that blue eyeshadow with the glimmery bits that you bought a couple years ago (for Halloween?) has long expired. Here's a quick guide on the shelf lives of typical beauty products. We've listed them in alphabetical order. Oh, and just one quick little "PS": Please keep in mind that these are estimates, no matter what anyone tells you, it's unlikely you'll go blind from using 2-year-old mascara.<br />&bull;Concealer Up to 12 months.<br /><br />&bull;Powder 2 years.<br /><br />&bull;Cream & gel cleansers 1 year.<br /><br />&bull;Pencil eye liner Should be sharpened regularly. Will last up to 3 years.<br /><br />&bull;Eyeshadow Will also last up to 3 years. Extra tip: A dark eyeshadow can double as eyeliner, in fact, most makeup artists swear by eyeshadow used as eyeliner. You'll need a super-flat eyeliner brush for this (MAC, Sephora and Aveda have great brushes). Get the brush a little damp and dab in dark eyeshadow (black, brown or deep jewel-tones work great). Wiggle the brush into your lash line focusing on the space between your lashes, then sweep the color just above your lash line.<br /><br />&bull;Brushes Wash every 2-3 months in a mild detergent.<br /><br />&bull;Sponges Wash weekly and discard monthly.<br /><br />&bull;Foundation Check the ingredients: A water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 18 months. You may find you need two different shades of foundation each year: One for summer when your skin is naturally darker and one for winter when you're lighter. Extra tip: If your water-based foundation dries out before it's expiration date, simply add a few drops of alcohol-free. toner

Sony kdl-46xbr4 Black Horizontal Bands When I First Turn on TV

I had the exact same problem with the Sony KDL46XBR4. The problem started 11 months after I purchased the TV (Dec 2007). Luckily I placed the call to Sony just before the 1 year warranty expired and they replaced the entire front panel which is basically the whole TV except for the stand and the plastic frame. Last month the same issue started happening again (5 months since the repair). I called Sony and they say they have a 90 day warranty on the replacement part so I would need to pay out of my own pocket to first have the problem diagnosed (it's the EXACT same problem!) and then pay to have the repair done since the warranty has expired. I asked how much the front panel costs and it's $1,400! I paid $2,100 for the TV when I purchased it. Interestingly, at the time that part was back-ordered.....hmmmm, I wonder why??? Perhaps a recall is warranted here (no pun intended). Needless to say, I have sworn off Sony products due to their lack of support for this issue.

Yellow-green spot in center of screen

Defective light engine. Contact Sony support. They warrantied a lot of these sets even after the warranty had expired because of so many going bad after 3-4 yrs. Have the complete model and serial number ready when you call them.

Vertical lines on my 40 inch lcd mitsubishi hdtv 1080

Similar problem with an eleven and a half month old LT-40148. Approx. 1 inch vertical banding line on left side of screen on all inputs. After about two weeks, same problem on the right side of the screen.

Fortunately this occurred two weeks prior to the one year warranty expiring.

Called Mits customer service and they referred me to an authorized service center who I happened to have dealt with before.

They picked up the set. The front panel (LCD screen ) had to be replaced. Set was gone for two weeks as parts were not in stock. There was no charge. I hope this screen last more than a year.

Blue Screen on Dell Vostro 1400

OK you can try a couple of things.

1. On booting the Laptop, hold down F8 key, then choose "Last known Good Configuration". Windows may now start correctly.

2. If this doesn't work, do the same, but choose "Boot into Safe Mode"

If neither works you may have to repair Windows...

Blue "Haze" at top of screen

My VPL-HS51 just started doing the same thing. There's a lot of similar reports out there and they all end up at the same bottom line - the problem is due to a design defect in the 'prism block' (LCD panel) and the only option, other than to throw it away or sell it for parts, is to pay Sony about $2300.00 to fix it. Good luck!
