Check your power cord. You may be losing power at the plug. When plugged in it may be losing contact with the recepticle. The power indicator light initially comes on but, breaks contact and therefore stops charging the unit. If this is the case you can sometimes plug into an adapter and get a tighter fit.

My magellan Roadmate 5220-LM powers on but will not go past the first screen. I have tried to use the reset button but it still will not work

Hello Liz, You may have two problems. If your unit is several years old, the battery may need to be replaced. First charge the battery overnight. To get the screen unfrozen , you need to remove the screws on the back, open the case, and unplug the white battery connection . Reconnect the battery connection after a few seconds. If this works, it is usually a temporary fix . Either your battery does not hold a charge or your charger connection is poor at best and can not deliver a full charge to the battery. It could be both.

Where do i plug the charger into my magellan? seems like there is smothing missing on the back of the unit. unit is magellan explprist 400

  • It may be a little confusing. You actually plug the USB computer cord into the back of your GPS (see diagram) and then plug the AC power cord into the end of the USB cord (that would normally go into a USB port on your computer.) In effect two wires connected together. Then plug the AC adapter into your outlet.

Magellan RoadMate 1400 will not charge...completely dead...can I change battery without expert assistance?

you could change the battery yourself, but i doubt thats the problem...if it wont turn on while plugged in, normally the usb connector is bad...on rare occasions a bad battery will also prevent it from starting while plugged it.

plug in your 1400 to the usb on your computer (you should have gotten a usb cord when you bought it )

let it sit a while and charge, then press and hold the power button for up to 10 seconds and see if it starts..if it starts, go to the power options and see if the battery meter is moving left to right.

let me know what you find and we can go from there.

Power cord is not charging unit. There seems to be a loose fit in the socket of the Magellan Maestro 4000. Is the problem with the charger cord or the Maestro 4000 socket?

its probably not charging...very common problem with this and many others.

make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (upto ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

the following magellan 2000,2200t,2500,3000,3100,3140,4000,4040,4050 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

you can get it repaired, here
or buy the port here

if you need further help, just let me know.

Wont turn on- Magellan 2200T

I answered this on another thread, I removed the back cover, 6 screws, and pulled the battery connector from the board, waited a minute or two, then reconnected. another poster said also that the connector for the power may have gotten loose, you can tighten that also but be careful. I did not have to do this, only the battery. Do NOT do this with a power cord plugged in, to be safe.
