Normally, the one that replaces the cambelt puts a sticker on the beltcover, so anyone can see it has been done at a specific km/miles. Any selfrespecting mechanic anyway.
If you're not sure, find someone who can do it for you and don't take any chances. It's not that hard a job with the petrol's anyway.
good luck and enjoy the car.

Hello, I have a 1999 Volvo s70 2.4 engine my check engine light is on and I have a yellow arrow flashing. After check engine scan im getting back codes P1618 and also P0717 what does this mean?

This is a gearbox issue. Both codes relate to the transmission. Specifically P0717 is to do with an engine speed sensor that lets the gearbox know when it is supposed to change gear. Have you had any work done recently. They might have disturbed some wiring causing this problem. Replacing this sensor is not a simple task as i believe it is inside the box so requires the gearbox to be removed. There are some good Volvo forums on the internet that will be able to help you and point you to a local independent Volvo garage rather than a main dealer to keep costs down.

I recently purchase a 2008 PT Cruiser. The battery light came on while driving and the engine died. I managed to pull the cover to the shoulder of the road and it restarted. I was told it was a bad...

both battery terminals-- replace with full brass ones

alternator should have come first then battery

if a new alternator was fitted wont be the problem
if a refurbished/rebuilt alternator was fitted
they have a failure rate

whats left
could be a parasitic draw from the ignition or starter motor wirings
check 12 volts is getting from positive battery terminal to starter motor

replacing computer was a wasted brain frt idea

New timing belt fitted 2000 miles ago by garage after cambelt had snaped causing damage to engine. garage fixed engine and cambelt. auxillary was not replaced and shredded causing damage to new cambelt...

NO.a garage doesnt even have to ask you what "extras"you want(aux belt)although if they asked you would you have agreed as "most garages are a ripoff trying to fit items that are not required...."the majority are not cowboys but get tarred with the same brush.

Volvo s40 late 2003 105000km. Extra service price

Hi,you should change cambelt pully(there is a bearing inside pully before it worn out completely,it will cause high friction and heat to burn out your bell and rattling noise).buy cambelt pully from the dealer then take it to the garage ask them to put it in for you (labor about 30.00 dollars)...the rest is ok to wait until 150.000 miles.
good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
