To answer your question - I have found no way to set the clock with the buttons on the JVC PC-XC50/XC30 Portable CD System. This was done using the remote control. If you search for a RM-RXC30 (for my model) you can still find replacement remotes. On the remote there is a button for clock set and timer set along with down and up buttons.
