Question about Vulcan Heating & Cooling

Open Question

Hi - I have a very old Vulcan gas heater - it must be at least 20-30 yrs old. The pilot light has gone out and the flint (?) is not sparking when I push the ignite button. Is there a way to open the heater out from the wall to look at the inside and or replace the flint? The heater has fake wood around the edges, a wire grill and a glass shield inside made up of segments of glass. It has a two speed fan but no model number can be seen. The word Vulcan is on the bottom right corner. Thanks

SOURCE: Rinnai wall heater won't lite.

You may need to take the pilot assembly apart and clean the pilot orifice. If the pilot does not stay lite you may need a new thermocouple. Good Luck.

You probably need to replace the thermocouple before you will be able to get it lit.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a vulcan

Hello,

When the fan of your heater does not turn on and the igniter lights but then goes off, then it means there is a problem with the unit of the machine.

The problem with the furnace is that the element of the furnace is bad and need to be replaced. Also check the relay switch of the furnace, that way you will be able to fix both the fans problem and the ignitors also.

Hope this was helpful to you.
Goodluck

Cozy gas wall heater won't ignite, pilot light is on

There are two types of igniters, spark-type or glow heater. The glow heaters wear out and crack or break and the spark-type spark gap gets fouled or dirty. Both could have electronics problems that drive the glow heater or spark systems. The Filtrete thermostat is not the issue. While rapping the unit makes the glow igniter come back together to glow again.

Describe your Problem i have a quasar vulcan gas heater pilot light is on but wont ignite. can hear it clicking trying to ignite what is the o=problem . this heater maybe about 20 years old

What do you mean by the pilot light is on but won't light. Do you mean that there is gasbut won't light. If so the spark may not be hitting the pilot properly or it may not be getting enough gas. If lighting but continuing to spark the sensor may need cleaning. This can be cleaned with steel wool (not sand paper), probably will need to disassemble the pilot asembly The pilot may also be dirty reducing gas flow. If this is the case dis-assembly will be needed and the pilot cleaned.

Have a 20yr + old vulcan gas heater and I cannot turn pilot off

Hi, If you are talking about the knob on a gas valve that you use to light the pilot and turn it off also, you have to turn the knob either ccw or cw to turn it off. To light the pilot is when you turn the knob to pilot and push down and hold it, light the pilot while you continue to push it down for a minute, and then slowly release it and pilot will stay lite. So, if this is the type you have just turn knob one way or the other and it will shut off. If you do not have this type set up, just turn off the gas to the furnace at the flex line as there should be a hand valve by code and by law that supplys gas to you're furnace. You can shut it off there and the pilot will also shut off.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7
PS If you don't have either one of these shut off's, on the main gas valve it self, you should have a place marked pilot adjustment. Pop the small chrome cap and insert a very small screw driver to turn it cw to shut off pilot. This would be you're last choice.

Could be moisture in the gas supply line - get your gas fitter to purge the line at the meter.
