Colour split green and red with shadow effect on a Samsung rear projector 42" TV

A convergence problem and can be a do it yourself repair--

convergence solder connections likely going bad. you may be able to resolder or just replace the chips.

The RED CRT has gone bad and needs to be replaced but you must replaced ALL three CRT's because if you only replaced the RED one, it will be brighter than the Blue and Green CRT's.

Hi luke I am in the uk and not familiar with this set is it a three tubed crt television or an lcd projector type .. either way what you are descibing is convergence ( three primary colour guns all pointing at the same spot in a nutshell ) in the case of a crt projection tv three tubes one red one green one blue .. there should be a convergence pattern in the menu to re set the convergence via the remote check the manual . If it isn't adjustable you may have a scan coil fault or a tube ie : green with low emission check the green colour gun transistor and associated circuit for leaky caps resistors that have changed value or transistor leakage .. and don't forget the ever popular dry joints on the scan coil plugs .. hope this helps Vortash

I have a 21'' NEC TV Screen and it about 3 year old. the colour has gone to yellow and green color and the red etc

I would try a new T-CON board first.

Okay that means the other GUNS went out when i refer to guns I mean the other blue and red, they need to be replaced pretty costly but if you value that TV I'd do it.

You have 2 distinct problems that should be addressed separately. Please repost the Samsung problem. I will address the Sony problem here.

If the "shadow" makes the picture seem somewhat of a 3D one, the problem is with the convergence circuit. This could be as simple as bad connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and would like to attempt the repair, update this and I'll provide more details and instructions.

This is a Mainbord problem , the lcd would have shown blotches on your imagr rather than a shadow effect.
