I got a shock (static, it's winter here) and then the source menu started flashing on the screen and continues to do so. None of the buttons are working now (on the unit, or the remote) and I'm unable to switch to another input source. Any ideas as to how I can resolve this? Is there some way to reset the unit, or am I looking at finding a reputable repair center?

First thing to try is unplug the unit for about 2 hours, and then plug it back in. If that fails, unplug it overnight and try again.
If that still doesn't work, send a reply to this solution, and we'll diagnose it further.

I would suggest you pull the AC plug overnight to see if this will reset it. There are components that may take hours to discharge. If this doesn't help, you may have killed the IR receiver (or the cicuit that follows it) although it should happen on any newer consumer electronics that is properly designed and tested.
Both the set-top buttons and the remote eventually act on the same control circuit and if that has failed, it will not respond to remote or local control.

TV has static but no picture. When I turn on the TV, I hear 2 clicks and static. Pushing the power button again, static stops and red LED light turns on. After 15 min. TV automatically shuts off.

Check your antenna is plugged in the right place.
Switch TV on then goto it's menu setting, if the menu appears then at least you know the screen works.
As a test, plug in a DVD player to one of the HDMI ports and try to play something. Make sure you select the proper input source from the source menu and see if you get a picture.
If you do then it narrows the problem down.
Next, from the menu, select TV source to see if picture comes.
There are a number of other sequences depending on what decoder or Viewer box you have, if it's just Freeview antenna then you may have a problem with that.
Make sure you've done the auto tune procedures too.....

I get shocked at the hand grip the longer engine runs & as rpms increase, also get shocked when shutting blower off. Thanks

I believe that you are experiencing static electricity build up. As air passes through the blower, it creates a static charge. These normally bleed off over time.

When the air is dry, the electrons can hang around on your body for a long time, charging you up to thousands of volts. That can last until you touch something that can conduct them away, like a doorknob or your significant other.

You are not the first to experience this phenomenon.

I have a Mitsubishi WD-62525 HDTV that suddenly wont turn on. Just has a green blinking light when you hit the power button. Any ideas?

I found this on another website, most likely it is your power supply capacitors.
  1. Press the "reset" button and hold for 10 seconds .... Does TV turn on and blinking green light turn to solid green.

  2. Unplug the TV from it's power source for various times, ranging between 5 minutes and 24 hours..... Does blinking green light continue upon plugging in the TV.

  3. Disconnect ALL devices from the TV; DVD, Tuner, Cable Box, unplug the TV for various duration times .... Does blinking green light continues upon plugging in the TV.

  4. Press Power and Menu buttons simultaneously and hold depressed for 20 seconds .... Does blinking green light continue to flash.

  5. Press Power and Display buttons simultaneously and hold depressed for 20 seconds .... Does blinking green light continue to flash.

  6. Insure that no front panel buttons are inadvertently stuck in an "engaged" position.

Diagnosis: If none of the above test resolve the issue, then the failure lies in one of the following:

  1. DM Module Capacitors have FAILED.
  2. DM Module is defective.
  3. EEPROM Board failure
  4. Power Supply failure.

I touched thrmostat to change setting when it was shocked by a carpet shock. what do i do? thanks rick

If it was just a static electricity carpet shock, raising the humidity level in your home will reduce that problem. In the winter, the interior air of the home becomes to dry. 30 to 40% humidity is about what you should try to maintain in the winter. 0% or as close as you can get to it, in the Summer.

Static electricity fried the button panel

static electricity can damage the chips on the boards. it all depends were the static voltage went to, if it was just to the buttons controller board or to the main av board. you could need new button board or you could need to replace the main board and the button board its hard to say with static shock.

After static shock, keypad on fax machine is not working...everything else ok

Most office machines are properly grounded and don't suffer from static problems as severe as this. The machine is not repairable. Before you replace the machine, make sure that your electrical outlets are properly grounded. Then buy a line conditioner that will protect against this.
