My oven display has "sABBATH" written on the

This means that the Sabbath mode has been enabled. To disable the program, first press and release the Cancel/Off to stop the current programmed bake settings. Then press and hold Settings until Sabbath Mode Off is displayed. See page 14 of the manual for setting the Sabbath mode. This mode can be used to set the oven temperature for an extended bake (usually for a low temperature) or a programmed bake. It's used by those who strictly keep the Sabbath but want a hot meal ready when the Sabbath ends.

Find the owners manual and check to see if it has a sabbath day mode if not you will need a oven control which has the display assembly

it's locked in sabbath mode for jewish holidays,hold the clock pad in for 3 to 5 seconds to take it out

Some ranges with a lot of features have a Sabbath mode, hence the letters Sab in the display although it looks like 5ab. Check your owners manual and it should tell you how to turn off the Sabbath mode. If you don't have a manual Google your model number and Sabbath mode.

Could that be PF power failure 5AB in the Sabbath mode. That's a new one.
Your model number is useless. Sears has a big 3 digit product code followed by 8 digits.
But let me dig up my 5AB notes:

To
provide sabbath feature (or to cancel this setting):
1. Push the PREHEAT pad and set the oven
temperature to 500°F/260°C or more using the UP
ARROW pad.
2. Push the PREHEAT pad within the next 2 seconds
for 3-4 seconds. A beep sounds and a number
appears in red to the right of the display. For the
conversion, "3" must be displayed. If another number
is displayed, push the PREHEAT pad and select
"3".
3. Push the UP or DOWN ARROW pad to change
from 12 hour to 9999 in the display, for no 12 hour
shut-off.
4. Push the CANCEL pad to confirm your choice.

Other Displays:
When proceeding through steps 1 and 2 in the
Temperature Scale Conversion or in the elimination
of the Sabbath feature /12-hour Shut-off time limit,
two other words can be seen in the display. One is ESC
with O in red. It cannot be changed. The other is USE or
SALE with 3 in red. This one is for factory use and should
stay on USE.

The oven is in sabbath mode which wont let you do anything, unplugg it for 1/2 hour or flip off the breaker for a 1/2 hour. This should reset it for ya!

ok it happens / so to enable the Sabbath mode 1 open the door. 2 press cancel/off. 3 press the number pads 7&8 and 9 , in that order. 4 press Number pad 6 . 5 press start. "sab and on" will appear on the display ..( now to disable the sabbath mode .}. ( repeat the steps above to disable the Sabbath mode. " Sab and off" will appear on the display .. there now that wasn't too tuff was it .. mm hope this helped ..

I am publishing this tip because of the many users asking me about the code 5AB on Amana, Maytag and other ovens.

Error 5AB in fact does not exist , and what you see written on display isnot 5AB.

The beeping sound is a warning because the oven is in lock condition. The oven is not faulty, and the code is not 5AB, but SAB.

SAB means that the oven is in Sabbath mode, and the control board will be locked for 72 hours with SAB on display.

If power is disconnected a new 72 hours cycle will start.

Depending on the model, there may also be a beeping sound when you try to operate the oven.

Push and hold the Clock button for about 10 seconds, until the display clears, that will reset SAB mode.

If that does not work leave the oven connected and off for 72 hours. If the oven does not unlock after three days, then the electronic control may be stuck in SAB mode because it is faulty, in that case contact the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual.

It is in Sabbath mode, used for Jewish holidays. Anyway, hold the cancel button for 3-5 seconds and it should revert back to normal operating mode. It will still bake in Sabbath mode but will not display anything due to the laws regarding observation of the Sabbath
