Kenmore dishwasher model 16685

Dishwasher filled and began to run. Made a whining noise and bottom spray arm didn't rotate. Took lower assembly apart and found a couple of pistachio shells. I'm guessing that will solve the problem ... but now need to re-assemble. Two small white plastic balls (maybe 1/2 inch diameter, were floating in the water when I took the filter assembly out. I suspect these are some kind of plug, and need to go in a certain place, but because the dishwasher had filled, they were just floating around, and I didn't see exactly where they came from. Help.

SOURCE: Lower spray arm won't spin

Sounds like you may have put it together wrong. I would just take the arm back off and make sure that it all fits together right. A little tip for you too. Dishwashers will clog up all the time with water deposits and food gunk. There are all those expensive cleaners out on the market but the best and cheapest way to clean them is with white vinegar. Simply pour it into the dishwasher when it is empty and run it on the pots and pans setting on hot. Always make sure to pre heat your water too by running the sink till it starts steaming. This will make it easier for your dishwasher to heat the water. If you don't, then when you turn on the dishwasher it starts to fill with cold water and has to heat it on its own. Run the vinegar though through it at least once a month or so and it will extend the life of the dishwasher. Hope this helps. Just try taking that arm back off though and putting it back together making sure everything is fitting properly. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me. Good luck.

How to remove the pump from the motor on a Kenmore dish washer model 363.14572000

Steps:
1)Shut off power to the dishwasher at the circuit breaker and turn off the water line to the dishwasher by locating the shut-off valve, which is typically inside the cabinet beneath the kitchen sink.
2)Remove the four screws that hold the dishwasher kick plate in place.
3)Locate the motor, which is typically centered beneath the bottom spray arm.
4)Lower the dishwasher door and take out the bottom dish rack.
5)Remove the spray tower and spray arm assembly by unscrewing the bolt through its center.
6)Take out the filter immediately beneath the spray tower.
7)Disconnect the motor wires from the wiring harness, making a note of which wire connects to which terminal.
8)Disconnect the pump assembly and drain hose from the motor.

My sears kenmore dishwasher model #665 is not getting my dishes clean. I took out the lower basket and discovered that the lower spray arm and the housing it sits on is very loose an wobbeling. How can I...

The lower spray arm being loose is a normal condition. The first thing that needs to be checked is that the holes in the spray arms are clean and not blocked. Next once the unit has filled with water, the water level needs to be checked. If it is too low this will be what we need to repair. There is a float assembly in one of the front corners the water should be very close to the float. If it is not there is either a restriction in the fill line, water fill valve or the main board. You should be able to listen to the fill time and that should be around 55 seconds. After these tests are done I will nee the information to continue the diagnosis.

Upper Spray arms not spraying

Took apart again and found the stepping motor which diverts the water from lower to upper spray arms to be burnt out. I was able to manually set the diverter to the correct position so the dishwasher works but I am waiting for new parts to properly repair the problem.

LG LDS5811WW Low pressure out of spray arms

On the LG LDF xxxx dishwasher family, the Vario feature uses a motor/check valve to switch between "full power" cleaning from _either_ the lower or the upper spray arms, never at the same time. So, not seeing the upper arm spin during the lower arm spinning is standard operating procedure.

But back to your problem. Step one would be to remove the filter assembly again and make certain that there is nothing (debris, broken glass) blocking the white areas where the check valve rotates to switch between upper/lower spray arms. A blockage there ~could~ cause impotent spraying/cleaning.

If there is no blockage and the impeller remains in good shape, suspect a failing wash pump motor. Try to isolate the noise to that motor.

Watch for error codes on the display and report back what you find, OK?

Good Luck!

Kenmore quiet pak III dishwasher has a whining noise

Most of these dishwashers have separate circulation and drain pumps and there is a good chance that there is an issue with the circulation pump impeller issue under the lower wash arm. The bottom panels under the door can be removed to check it out.

Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash Dishwasher - top rack arm not spinning

Hi: I just posted a similar problem, but found a solution. After taking the arm, etc. apart (and verifying no blockages), I thought maybe the lack of water pressure was being caused by the fact that there are TWO holes for the top spray arm (higher and lower rack setting) on my model. ie. that water was being forced out of both holes, causing a drop in water pressure, which was causing the top spray arm to stop spinning. I plugged the unused hole with a wine bottle cork (to keep the water from spraying out the unused hole), and voila, it now works.

I wish all appliance fixes were this easy...!

Whining noise with Kenmore 16032 dishwasher

I had a similar issue, I removed the lower spray arm (had to hold center plastic tab with pliers and then unscrewed and lifted up the arm). Then I removed the cover with the screen filter(4 screws) and then removed the top half of the stainless chopper housing (1 screw). Found that things like cherry pits, elastic bands, bread plastic ties had blocked the water inlet to the chopper and the area around the chopper blade. Cleaned it all up, reassembled and machine works great! Mine was so blocked that I was hardly getting any water pressure to the upper rack.

Dig deeper, until you find filters. Those are probably clogged. You may need a screwdriver...
