Question about Fujitsu Plasmavision PDS-4221 42 in. Television

1 Answer

I normally unplug the television so it doesn't stay on standby, then plug it in when I need it and turn it on with the remote. Just today though, when I plugged it in the little red light on the screen didn't come on. I know the wall socket is working because I tried it with another appliance. I also tried the television with another power cord but no luck. Any ideas what could be the problem?

Hi.
It sounds like the same thing that is wrong with a huge number of tv's nowadays.

Your tv is suffering from capacitor failure.

These small parts control the entire tv's power system.

They act like small booster batteries, and give a large pulse to the tv to energize the screen.

Unfortunately, there is no easy fix, other than taking it to a business with specialized techs that do this type of repair.

The reason that it need specialists is because of the capacitors being very dangerous.

Even when they aren't turned on, they can still hold 100 volts or more of static charge each, so that they give a combined power output sufficient to turn the screen on.

The best two places that I have found are Fry's, and BestBuy.

Both of these companies have the specialists for this repair.

Before you pay for the repair, have them give you a quote as to what the repair cost is going to be.

You may find that it would be cheaper to just replace the tv instead of repairing the old one.

I hope this helps you understand what is going on.

Good luck to you, and have a nice day !

Remote control won,t work

This is how to complete a remote reset for a Sharp television:

Turn off the television if it is on. Unplug the television. Please leave it unplugged. Take the batteries out of the remote control. Leave the batteries out of the remote control. Is the television still unplugged? Yes? Good leave it that way. Are the batteries still out of the remote? Yes? Good leave them that way. Point the remote at the television's remote sensor. Hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Release it. Press and release each button on the remote control. Plug the television back in. Turn it on with the power button on the television itself. Replace the batteries. Try adjusting the volume. Hopefully the remote works. If it still doesn't work the remote sensor on the television could have gone out or you may need a new remote. http://www.sharpusa.com may have a remote you can order or http://www.replacementremotes.com but if that isn't the problem you may or may not be able to return the remote.

My Technika LCD32-229 is just over 12 months old and has suddenly decided not to respond to the remote or on/off control on the TV. If I turn of the power at the mains for 30 seconds or so, it will then...

HERE'S THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM:

The possible reason why your TV doesn't respond to your remote is probably the battery of your remote. Maybe it has been used up to it's fullest capacity, so try checking it up. In case, it has been used up, try to buy a new one.

The possible reason why your TV doesn't stay on is still your remote control. Maybe you have accidentally set it to "sleep mode." When it is set into sleep mode, it turns on just for a shorter time. It cannot stay on longer.

So, here's what you've got to do. Check your remote. When the remote works already, press the sleep button remote again. I hope it works for you.

Thanks.

Is the red light suppose to stay on when you turn off the tv with the remote?

Yes it is supposed to stay on. This is the standby light. The television still draws power as do many electronic devices when not turned on and when in standby. If you do not want the red light to stay on you will have to unplug the television.

Unplug the set and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Plug it back in and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't then it sounds like there is a problem on the board underneath the power button. Something isn't allowing the circuit to be cut.

Hello,

There seem to be a problem that is why the television is not coming up and stays stuck on standby mode.

First try to turn on the television using the remote of the television and ensure that the battery of the remote is properly working, you can as well try to push the channel button on the television if the remote does not work.

If it does not come up both by using the remote and pushing the channel button, then it means it is a hardware problem, and that is from inside the unit of the television. Since the standby light comes up, it simply means power is reaching the main panel of the television.

This mainly used to be caused by a faulty or bad capacitor on either the main panel or the power panel of the television.

To check and fix, follow the steps below:
