SOURCE: JVC KD-G431 IN CAR CD PLAYER "000ZAAA" Error

I had the same problem. It started when I tried to play an MP3 track from a "Creative Zen Vision M" Media Player. The result was the same as you describe = Maddening. It was extremely annoying that the CD player did not work. I thought I had broken the equipment.

Then my wife read the product hand book , and noticed on page 2 http://jvcmobile.co.uk/documents/products/KD-G431%20Instructions.pdf it showed, where using a pen you can reset the equipment back to the original settings. I thought I might as well give a try. It worked = Fixed. Amazing. I was so relieved. Such an easy solution.

Give it a go. I reckon there is a good chance it will fix your problem, and you will also be very relieved. Just use a basic MP3 player in future. GOOD LUCK !!!

SOURCE: Hello I have a Pioneer XC-L11

It is most likely that the laser pick up is bad. That is the part that reads the disc and is the most common reason. You can try a lens cleaning disc to see if it just needs to be cleaned, but if that does not work you will need to take it in for service. This problem can be caused by several different things, from the spindle motor (spins the disc), to the pick up (reads the disc), or even an IC that controls one of those things. Once you have cleaned the lens, you can also try cleaning the disc's. If a disc has a fingerprint or scratch in the area of the disc that is know as the TOC (table of contents), it will not read the disc. Fingerprints in other areas of the disc will cause the player to skip or even stop playing. I use windex and a soft cloth like a bath towel to clean the disc's, it works as good or better than the disc cleaning kits you can purchase, and it is much cheaper.

If none of this helps, it has a problem that only a trained technician can figure out with the proper test equipment. Then you must decide if it is worth getting fixed. Some service centers offer free estimates, but those are the ones that don't actually check your equipment first before giving an estimate. They just give you a ballpark figure that is usually pretty high. To get an acurate estimate you normally have to pay for it. A technicians time is worth money, my shop charges $25 for an estimate. That is pretty cheap. Some are as high as $65 for an estimate. But if you are paying for an estimate, they will normally at least troubleshoot the unit and determain just what the problem is, compared to a free estimate which is just a guess and a ballpark figure usually high to cover the cost no matter what the problem is. You may also end up paying much more for a repair when you get a free estimate, because you have already approved that amount, and many shops will charge you that much even if they find a simple problem that only takes 30 minutes to fix.

Replacing a pick up normally cost about $125 to $150 because the part can sometimes cost as much as $75.

I hope this was helpful for you and lets you make an informed decision. let me know if you need any more help.

A put in a cd and after about 40 seconds it stops playing a gives me an error signal.

Hello and good morning,

The Error it is saying, is player is dirty.
In the past what I have done and works 99 percent of the time, is I go down to like radio shack or best buy or almost any electronic supply, even stereo install stores will normally have a CD cleaning kit that comes with a fluid that you wipe on the blank CD with the applicator or towel it has in the package. What you will be doing is putting this blank CD that is designed ( with the cleaning solution) to go through your player and clean all the controls and contacts and components. You might have to run it through a few times, then when you think you are done and its is now clean, put a brand new CD or a CD that you know for sure it works, and try and play it again. 99% of the time, this will solve the problem. I hope this helps for you. Rock On!! Mike from fixya.

Will not record but will play cd's

You don't say what the recorder does do when you try to record. Any messages?

One possibility - You have to use CD-Audio or CD-Music media for consumer CD recorders. There are probably a zillion logos plastered somewhere on the unit that say what media are compatible with it.

GPX C3960 MP3/CD player

There's a good possibility batteries may have tarnished or slighty corroded the battery terminals on your unit. When this happens, the batteries can't make good electrical contact through the terminals and therefore, can't deliver power to the unit. In some cases, it is easy to remove the tarnish/corrosion by filing it away using a fine grain sandpaper. I've done this many times with different units with good success. I'm not saying that this may be your problem, but It's something to look into.
