go to the printer properties and check the paper size you are using. It should be set to a4 and it will recognise that size paper . make it a default setting.
The extra side tray feed was way out of alignment. It must have been kicked or bumped and the motor was not lining up to the feed so the paper was not getting picked up. There are two metal anchors on either side of the tray, they were adjusted. The c351 had to be reset after the repair, like rebooting a computer.
get yourself a can of electronic contact cleaner in a arisal can. spray this on a rag and clean the paper feed wheels and the seperator pad (cork piece about 3/16 x 1inch) located right under the paper pick wheel.these wheels get glue build up on them and become slippery the contact cleaner will remove the glue with out leaving a residue behind
you'll probably need a replacement paper tray. The sliders are fitted with small teeth to prevent them from moving. These teeth can break off meaning the paper size slider moves around too much and the paper sits back away from the feed roller and it doesn't get picked up correctly by the fed roller so resulting in a paper jam error
First check if the feed rollers are 'Slick" with paper dust, if they are ,clean then with 409 on a cloth rag, and scrub till u dont see the white paper dust on the rollers, let the rollers dry, then reset the printer, by turning it off. then turn it back on ,reinstall the paper and begin printing again.
If your Dell 1700 laser printer is not pulling paper all the way, try cleaning the pick up rollers.
To access the pick up rollers. Turn off the printer. Unplug everything from the back of the printer. Take out the toner/drum and set this aside out of the light (the drum is effected by light). Remove the paper tray. Set the printer on its backside. The rollers are located on the underside of the printer where you just removed the paper tray. You may have to move a blue flap to get at the rollers. Take a damp paper towel and clean these off. Another possible solution is to take the grey rollers off and turn them inside out and then place them back on the printer.
The pick up rollers should not be shiney, or cracked and dryed out. If they are, they will not pick up the paper to feed it into the printer. The tires should have "traction" to them so that they can grip the paper and feed it into the printer.
Once you have the tires cleaned off or turned inside out and placed back on reassemble the printer and try printing.
Have you replaced the paper pick up & paper feed & paper sep. rollers? Also, have you cleaned the paper pick up clutch? The reason it works with the manual feed is that it is not used as much. Also, have you cleaned the rollers with wd-40 or simple green and did it work better, if so you need new rollers. Good Luck
Have you fixed that problem with the "P" code?
