Setting ringtones as you text message alert tones

I had a razor from verizon and I could easily set any ringtones i bought as text message alert tones and with this phone i seemed to have tried everything and nothing has worked :[ I hope there is a way to do it because if not that seems pretty stupid that a simple little razor can do it.

I've had the LG Shine for about 3 months now, and I have heard of ways to set ringtones as your messages.. but i'm assuming that that is maybe for a different Shine because they had said something about going to multimedia and then to tones or something, and with my silver shine from at&t and i don't have multimedia and tones, i have audio&ringtones. so i really don't think there is a way to set ringtones as a message alert, unless you have the multimedia thing, then you might be able to find a result i guess.

You CAN set a song as your text alert tone. Here are the steps:
1- Go to: Settings> Profiles>
2- Select your options (e.g. normal, vibrate and ring, etc....)
3- select Options> Customize (2)>
4- Highlight "Message Sound" and select Options> Customize (2),
5- Then browse to the folder your song or sound is in (e.g. audio) and select the file you want to use and save it.

I noticed that the songs have to be under 30 seconds to use as any type of alert tone for calls or texts.

Hopefully this helps.

Ringtone can be set as message alerts on the LG scoop.
If you purchased the ringtone on an application thats on the phone, it is automatically saved into the media/audio section of the menu. After opening up the menu, stroll to the song of your choice and hit to options key which is the right soft key near the screen and hit "set as" then hit the right arrow on the d-pad or stroll pad on the phone and stroll to message alert, it will then ask txt, pic, or voicemail. then you can set it that way

or, you can just go to the setting part of the part of the phone and go to sounds and then message alert and choose to the song of your choice, dispite how long it is!! Trust Me, I have had the scoop before...

On the LG VU CU920, how do you set ringtones as message alerts?

After going through the manual and talking to an AT&T rep, I found that it is not possible to set your own ringtone as a message alert tone. You can only use your own ringtones for calls and ringer ID's. We're stuck with the 10 pre-loaded rings for the message alerts. :(

I have a motorola krzr k1 thru verizon. how do

Typically with the Motorla Krzr K1 you can't do that, usually only T Mobile software has it. I have verizon too and I can't do special sounds with it. Try going to settings<sound settings < alert sounds< text message < tone and then choose the sound you want to play!

Depending on your phone company you may or may not be able to do this. Go to settings, Sound Settings, Alert tones, Text Message, then choose. It may not be exactly like that, but if so then I hope I helped!!

I would like to change text message ring tone but can only find how to change ringtone and not for text messages

I found the answer!! Go to Menu>Settings>Profiles, then go to Options>Edit. Push the right side of the square (that you use to navigate the menus) so that you're working with New Messages, not Incoming Call. Go down to Message Alert Tone, then go to Options>Change>Use Effect Tone. If you were trying to use an .mmf that you downloaded, or any of the preloaded ones that can be used as incoming call ringtones, you'd go to Use My Alert Tone here. There are 4 tones under Use Effect Tone, and you can play them and choose one, just like you do to play and choose your ringtone.

Set a ringtone for a text message SYNC SGH-A707

"My Effect Tones" can only be MMF files. Ringtones can be WAV, MMF, MP3, etc... as long as the file is under 300kb I think. You need to convert your ring tones to MMF to use them as "Text Tones"
