My xbox has a red ring showing and i cannot play my system,can you help?

From what you have said it sounds like you have the RROD - 2 RED RINGS ERROR

The main causes are Hardware failure, overheating or wear & tear.

You may need to perform simple maintenance, clean or in some cases adjust settings.

360's tend to lock up before the "red rings of death". You get this when the system overheats and has problems with the solder coming loose. Mine took a little over a weak before it got the red rings after it kept freezing after a few min.'s of playing.

It could be overheating because the fan is not getting enough air out. try cleaning the console itself outside and using can of compressed air to get any buildup in the vent holes and fan cleared. There are a few FAQS on this site to learn about a few tricks.

its probably overheating try using a fan constantly on it when you play. if that doesn't work i bet the red ring will show up. if that happens call 1800myxbox they have a step by step instruction system for you to send it down and get it fixed. but keep your hard drive at your home. hope this helps

no you still have a warranty microsoft extended there warranty due to console problems so call up xbox talk to max. and the warranty ends 2010

ok, im so sorry to tell you this but i heard that if the ring on your xbox 360 is red its having a meltdown and its totally broken. my friends xbox did that and he had to get a new one

Three lights flash red on the Ring of Light (RoL) on the front of your Xbox 360 console. The upper-right quadrant light is the only light that does not flash red. The three flashing red lights may indicate that there is a hardware problem with your Xbox 360 console.

You can try one or two things.

1. Turn on your xbox and check to see if the power supply light is green. If it is green there is a problem with the system. If it is red it means you should check your connections and restart the xbox.

2. These rings have a tendency of meaning that there is a problem with the system itself. Most companies sell extra insurance to cover this "ROL" Ring of life. You can contact Microsoft by calling them. The number is usually listed on the back of the video game booklets.

Go online to XBOX.COM and register your Xbox (will need your serial number). Microsoft will then mail you a mailing box with instructions (at their cost). It will be shipped to McAllen TX (mine was and was delivered to them today).

But next unit will not be Microsoft related.
