Question about Brother Office Equipment & Supplies
You should try to pull them out and reinstall.
Be sure to install them gently and securely then try to fax a document so that the machine is forced to print a confirmation.This m,ay correct the problem.There really isn;t too much that can go wrong with this particular unit.Brother makes the best printer out there!
I have one of these MFC's and it's the best Unit I've ever bought.
I am going to try generic ink catridges in it soon.I found them for half the price.The supplier garantees these aftermarlet vartridges will work fine.I suppose we will find out.

Mine has started giving me the "install ink cartridge" message after a year or so. I squirted some freon-based solvent on the little sensor board that the ink cartridges slide into, and it has resumed working. You can see this little sensor board inside the ink-cartridge "garage"; it's the horizontal printed-circuir board with the 4 black sensors on it. Try a blast of air before you try the liquid solvent; I think these little sensors just get paper dust or ink spray on them and stop sensing the cartidge insertion...
