The lcd screen of my nikon coolpix5550 does not give any image. I can take pictures, the lense works and when I put the sd card in my computer, I have perfect photo's. No prolem there, I just cannot see anything on the screen. do you have any advice what might the solution?

There is a non user repair fault here If it is just out of warranty contact the maker Tech support They sometimes can offer a 'refurb' one at an agreeable price in exchange.

How are you transferring the photos? Are you using a cable, or a card reader? If you are using a cable then most likely the cable went bad. I have a D-1 and a D-2, and I never use the firewire cable. I put the CF cards into a card reader. If you are not using a card reader then try that. You can get a decent one from E-Film or from most any computer store.

One more step to try, did you format the card in the camera when you first loaded the card in? On my cameras you need to format that card to have them work with the camera.

SOURCE: sd memory card cannot be used

This happenes when you remove the card while read/write process is still going on. Try some professional service who will retive the data for you from the mem card. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: LCD on - view image prior to taking photo

The feature you are referring to is called "Live View mode".

This is NOT available on the Nikon D80, and was only introduced on the D90, which is available now.

Live View mode allows you to use the LCD screen as your view finder instead of using the eyepiece, but unfortunately, this feature is not available in your model.

many small Nikon cameras have memory to store images ON THE CAMERA. If you have a memory card installed that the CAMERA CAN READ it will put images on the card. if the memory card is corrupted the camera will not use it.

First Backup all IMAGES on Memory Card to COMPUTER make sure you saved ALL images. This is IMPORTANT.

After you SAVED all images you PUT Memory card back in camera and FORMAT it (Format is in TOOL Menu that looks like a wrench)

Now if you can take an images and it saves to memory card you are done. To see if they go to MEMORY CARD. Turn off camera and remove MEMORY CARD and Check.

If it STILL does not work you may have a defective memory card.

any card over 4gb will not be read by older computers. If you don't have a newer computer the SD card reader, avliable at walmrt under $10.00 will work.

If the pictures were on the card and you have not shot more pictures or video since then with the same card in the camera, their probably all still there.

Put the card in a reader, and scan it with image recovery software. The process takes a lot of time, but will give you all the pictures that are currently on the card, even if you accidentally erased them.

Deleting pictures alters the way their identified, but does not remove them from the card. When you recover them, the program looks for images that are no longer identified normally, and puts them in another file with new identification so your computer can see them.

When you add pictures to a card it overwrites the old picture files, and that permanently destroys the old files. Formatting the card removes all the picture information on the card permanently.

Yes - when editing images, always copy them to your computer and do it there. Do not copy the images back to the card, as the camera will be unable to read them - as you have discovered.

I have the same problem I went to the canon service department and they told me that its a common problem and the image sensor has to be change it will cost me 160.00 depending on the area where I'm getting it done so for me it's better to buy a new one.

YOUR PROBLEM MAY BE SIMPLE. IF YOU ARE USING THE ORIGINAL MEMORY CARD THAT CAN INSTALLED IN YOUR CAMERA THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THIS CARD IS JUST FULL AND HAS NO ROOM FOR ANY OTHER PICTURES. THE STANDARD CARD FOR THE SD-750 IS A 32MB-SD MEMORY CARD THAT WILL HOLD APRX. 20 PICTURES AT A NORMAL JPEG 3072 X 1728 MPIXEL RATING. YOU MIGHT TRY EITHER DOWNLOADING THE ONBOARD PICTURES TO CLEAR THE MEMORY, OR INSTALL A NEW HIGHER CAPACITY SD CARD. I WOULD RECOMMEND A 4 GIG CARD. THIS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF YOUR PROBLEM. Upload images to SD card

I just purchased a frame and wondered the same thing. My computer has a slot for an SD card once inserted the computer shows the SD file. Then go into where you store the pictures highlight the picture one at a time in the picture file my program says copy to file click on it and shows the SD file as F file click copyit then downloads to the card. Done put SD card in frame worked perfectly.
