Question about Staples SPLXC200D Shredder

Open Question

For the third time I have bought a Staples Shredder Model # SPL-TXC10A and again I am having problems with it. When I turn it to Auto, the power won't come on again. Is there a reset button on this unit. I have only had it perhaps 3-4 months and just shred mail. Nothing heavy that would put strain on the motor. Any ideas on how to get the power to work? Thanks, Randy

Make sure there is no paper blocking the sensors. Otherwise you may have a bad sensor or switch.

SOURCE: staples spl-710sh paper shredder stopped shredding

This exact thing has happened to my unit as well. Ive disassembled it to discover that 5-7 teeth on the gear that the motor drives have been stripped off. Unless the gear can be replaced (which is probably not worth the expense), then the unit is toast. Sorry. Good luck.

is it the drive gear or is it that the shreader is dull that makes the shreader sluggish?

These shredders have a "paper in" sensor. This is either optical or mechanical.
Sounds like the sensor is blocked and therefore "thinks" there is still more paper left, and this is why it keeps going.

Before you do anything UNPLUG THE SHREDDER.
The sensor is located about in the middle and at the level of the blades.
If it's mechanical, you should see a little finger, else it is electronic.
Shine a light in the area and you should be able to spot where the blockage is.
A shot with compressed ais usually gets rid of the offending particles.

After you're finished working on it, set it back securely on the basket and plug it in.

I have a Staples Shredder model SPL-TXC6A (serial 0809026807), which I have been using a lot lately. The auto and reverse buttons will not function, & neither will the forward button.

Contact Staples to see if they can repair your shredder or replace it. It sounds like something you could get replaced with warranty.

Staples spl txc10a

First determine if there's power to the unit. Plug something else into the receptacle and verify if it's working.
If OK, plug the shredder into the outlet and turn to it's "auto" position. You should see a red or green LED light up, indicating that it's powered up and ready.
If you get a light and it still doesn't work, it's probably the switch that senses the paper entering the slot is stuck closed (adhesive from labels and the like, or paper dust can cause this. Personally I would just buy a new one (not worth the cost of repairing).
If no light, check to see that it's sitting on the waste container properly. This units have a safety switch and it it's not seated properly, you get nothing, no light, no motor, no shred.
