5 times blink code means Lamp Driver error that can be problem of ballast supply or Lamp. How old is this TV? Have you replaced Lamp recently? Service manual of TV can be downloaded from HERE for small fee. Let me know your finding to provide you more info. Thanks.
Is the bulb light flashing ? - Sony's bulb light is very accurate in telling you if the bulb is bad. The buzzing sound could be from the balist trying to strike the lamp. You also may want to open the lamp door and see if the bulb is shattered.
I replaced bulb on SOny XBR 60 with sony brand bulb about six months ago. everything was fine, then a week ago it seems that I lost the "red" portion of the color. Any suggestions?
Check the door for the lamp...over time mine distorted from the heat, and this was an error code for the door now being closed. Temporarilty I wegeded something in there to hold the switch closed, but ended up replacing the door.
