Hi Brantley,

Follow the below steps to configure your router for internet access:

RESET:

With the help of a paper clip, press the reset button on the back of the router for 20 seconds (please refer to the label on the bottom of the router for reset button location). Release the reset button after 20 seconds and turn off the router. Turn the router on after few seconds.

CONNECTIONS:

1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router (isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports. Please make sure that there is no direct connection between the modem and the computer (either using Ethernet cable or USB cable).
3. Power off the modem and the router after making the connections.
4. Power on the modem and wait for the lights to come on and then power on the router.

RECONFIGURE:

1. Open a web browser like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.
2. Access the router's GUI by typing http://192.168.1.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
3. When prompted for Username and Password, please enter 'admin' for the Username and 'password' for Password.
4. Click on 'Basic settings' from the left menu and select 'Use Computers MAC Address' from 'router MAC Address' section.
5. Click Apply.
6. Once it updates the settings then power off the modem and the router. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.

Open up another browser window and try to access Internet. Once online on the main computer connected through the router. Perform the following tasks to configure the wireless connection:

On the router settings page

1. Click on wireless settings from the left menu.
2. Select security options as 'WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)'.
3. Set the 'Authentication Type' as 'Automatic'.
4. Set the 'Encryption Strength' as 64-bit.
5. In Key 1 type a 10 digit number.
6. Apply the settings.

Perform the below task on the wireless VISTA computer:

1. Click START, Click Control Panel then click classic view in left hand side
menu.
2. In the main screen, open up NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER.
3. In the left hand side menu open up MANAGE WIRELESS NETWORKS.
4. If you see any name in the list, please select the name and click remove.
5. Once the list is empty, click on ADD, select the first option, ADD A NETWORK THAT IS IN RANGE OF THE COMPUTER.
6. click on your network name SSID and click on connect. If you have a Password setup on the router enter the security key.
7. This should setup the wireless network.

If you are satisfied with the above information and your problem has been solved, I'd appreciate it if you could accept the answer and rate this suggestion the highest FixYa rating. If you cannot rate this post with the highest rating, then please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

How to reset netgear wgr614 to factory default

You can reset your Netgear router to the factory settings from within the router manager. The reset procedure removes all user-configured settings and returns the router to the original factory settings. For this reason, only reset the router if you encounter problems that can't be solved with other methods.

Step 1: Check that your Netgear router is properly connected with your system or not. If it is OK, then press reset button on Netgear router for at least 10 seconds. The 'test' light should flash during this process.

Step 2: Now open browser and enter Netgear's IP address into the address bar. Generally, '192.168.0.1' is the Netgear router IP address but you can find specific IP address in Netgear router manual.

Step 3: Now enter your default username and password to log in to router.

Step 4: Click 'Erase' button under the 'Revert to Factory Default Settings'. This process will erase all your previous changes that have been made to the router and restore the configuration settings to factory setting. Don't interrupt the process until the process is finished.

Once the router's 'test' light has stopped blinking and the configuration page you are on has refreshed, the router has been reset.

Did a factory restore, set up wireless, can browse internet via a neighbours unsecured network, but cant on mine. can log in to router wirelessly but thats it no internet

Dide you set up the wireless on your router? If you have done this and you have it set for None for security, you will also be "unsecured", BUT you still have a name (SSID) to identify your network. Check that your internet is set for "Private" access, if you are presented the option between Private and Public.
