I just got a DEH-P80MP from my friend that totaled his car, however I only got the unit and the face plate, the wire harness that goes into the back of the cd player for power, ignition, and speakers was not salvageable. Where can i find another? I don't want this good cd player to go to waste.

hi jeff, recheck the power wiring again namely the yellow, red and black wires. when the harness is wired and then connected to the unit you will notice that the cd eject motor will run for a few seconds. this is a good sign that the unit is correcly wired up. make sure that both the re and yellow wires receives +12v once the vehicle is started. if this does not help then the rest of the problem lay inside ur unit. cheers.
should be a red wire in the dash that is the power to what should be a red wire at the back of the unit.connect together and insulate.then there should be a black negative wire behind the unit that gets connected to some part of the metal frame behind the dash
Well.. if there is smoke coming from the head unit, the head unit could be bad. It odviously may have a wire crossed or a fuse blown, or even the wire harness could be bad. First, check the fuse for the radio on drivers side door, then check the other fuse box under the hood. Make sure all radio fuses are intact and not blown. Second, check behind the head unit to make sure no wires are touching each other and shorting out. Third, if nothing else helps, buy a new head unit & wiring harness :]
