How to finalise on my DVD recorder?

Hello,
I have a Telefunken TDR218 DVD recorder. I have recorded many DVD's but they won't play on any other DVD player or my computer. I learnt recently that I need to finalise them and that there should be a finalise button somewhere, but from what I can see there isn't such an option on my DVD recorder.

How do I finalise these DVD's on my DVD recorder? Or can I do it on my computer somehow?

Thanks.

Thanks for showing interest in my problem. :)

I've looked through the manual and i can't see any reference to finalising and nor in the menu which is a bit concerning. I'll have another look myself.

    Thanks very much.

You will need to finalize them with the dvd recorder, it may also refer to it as closing the disk, it may be a button on the remote but more than likely it will be an option in a menu.....I can't seem to find a manual for it right now, If you have one you may want to read through it , thats how I found out how to finalize dvds with my philips. I'll try looking for a manual again later but right now I have to go to work so I'll get back to you on this.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find very much information about this device at all, But I would imagine that in one of the menus, there should be an option to close finish finalize or preform lead-out on the dvd, the problem may also be a result of the type of disks you are using, some players will not support dvd+r's but will read dvd-r's, PC drives can be the sane way, so you may want to check on that as well. there has to be some step missing to make these DVD's work in other players, it took me a while to figure mine out as well, but everyone I've used has had an option to finish or finalize the disk, I'll keep looking when I can, Don't have a whole lot of free time right now though, working a lot, sorry.

Why doesn't my recorded dvd-r movies play on my magnavox dvd player

Does your DVD player support that version of DVD disk? Not all players will handle DVD-R. Check the manual for compatibility.
Try recording to DVD+R then see if your player will play it.
Also, in what format (.avi, .flv, .mov, etc.) was the item recorded and is your player able to handle that format? Again, check the manual for compatibility.

Cant get pre-recorded disc's to play in my recorder it comes up with the message "this disc will neither play or record" any ideas?

hello,

the reason the recorder comes up with the message "this disc wont play or record" simply is that the format of the disc is not compatible with the player.

1. check the format of the recorded disc,
2. and check the formats the recorder can play to confirm this.

take care

Check file extensions of files on your recorded cd's. Add file extension to Roxio, Windows Media player and check your drive settings.

Samsung DVD-R120, can I save what?s on a DVD-R that won?t play?

If it will not play either on the recorder it was recorded on or any other player, you need professional help retrieving the data. There are places where this can be done, but it will probably cost MANY times what the disc does.

Lg 766 wont play a pre recorded dvd every thing else is fine

Not all DVD players will play a pre-recorded DVD that was made on a computer. These types are designed to play only what is called pressed DVD's.

When a CD or a DVD is recorded on a computer it is not really the same as when the media has been press recorded.

Most all of the new model DVD and CD players will play computer recorded media. When buying a player, it is important to make sure that the specs are what you need.
