As you get suction from the hose pipe and none from the foot of the vacuum cleaner, I conclude that their is a blockage in the foot unit. That's right at the bottom, in the L shaped joint.

Power on the vacuum cleaner while the hose pipe is out of the unit, note the sound of the motor. Then while the vacuum is on connect the hose to the foot unit for carpet cleaning.

Does the sound of the motor change? If so this indicates that not so much air can be sucked through the foot section of the vacuum cleaner. Which is what you are experiencing!

The solution to the problem you are experiencing is to clean the pipe at the bottom of your vacuum cleaner, between the part where to get suction and the part you don't.
Use a torch if nessary and a stick etc... to remove whatever is stuck in there.

Take care!

Hello Can,

Go through this guide to help find the issue www.builtinvacuum.com/flowchrt.html. You should have suction without a filter. The bottom is on the unit, right? It needs to be air tight.

No suction once hose is plugged in. If I go to another recepticle it has plenty of suction until I plug the hose in. I just bought this house and the owner was unable to help with operating manuals due to...

If it's just the one outlet, then there's probably a clog in the pipe between that outlet and the main pipe. You may be able to clear it by plugging the hose into a working outlet, placing other end to non-working outlet, and turning vacuum on. This may provide enough suction to **** out the clog.
If not, you'll probably need to use a mini plumber's snake to try to remove it.

The machine will not suction - it will spray and spin the brushes but will not suction - the power is going to the machine, but it will not suction.

Disconnect the suction hose. While running, check the suction port if it works, by putting a piece of paper. If the paper is taken in, then it is oK. Now, check the suction Hose for breaks or opening before the suction head. Breaks or opening breaks the suction power at the suction head. Loose connection between the suction pipe and the suction port also must be check as this will also cause the same
problem. You may need to replace the suction hose

DC 17 Animal No suction on hand held hose

There is likely a blockage in the pipe. Try pushing something through taking care not to perforate the pipe.

Suction loss when handle is tipped back to clean carpet

can any one help,
Our Dyson Animal vacuum has plenty of suction when it is upright and the attachments are being used off the hose, but when the handle is tipped back to begin cleaning carpets the beater head is getting no suction. As the handle is being tipped back you can hear what sounds like a flapper valve in the body of the vacuum opening and then all the suction just goes away.

I have a u3450 1500w hoover, suction on hose works fine, but carpet suction has never worked, how can i fix this?

There must be a restriction or blockage in the carpet suction pipe. Look at the port where the hose connects to the machine and check for any accumulation of debris or blockage. The same motor drives both suction inlets so it can only be that there is an obstruction.

Loss of suction when using upright. Suction remains for samll tools

I checked all the pipes and seals. There is a flexible pipe which you can see underneath that connects the front rotating brush assembly to the vacuum system. This pipe can crack and loss of suction occurs when using it upright. The pipe can be repaired temporarily with strong fabric sticky backed tape (e.g. carpet seal tape). A new pipe can be fitted with a few tools.

How to for Belt replacement and solution to suction loss

You say it lost its suction, then you also say this is plenty of suction power, seems you cant figure out the prob. Try cleaning the fan on the suction blower. The blades can get chocked with dust which will give you a reduced suction.

I lost the manual to my vacuum

Hi.

If no suction from hose check the following.
The (U) shaped inspection port at the back of machine where flexi hose enters has not come off or has a blockage.
Remove flexi hose from rear of machine once off slide it fully up the wand handle hold handle end up to a light & look up the pipe for blockages.

Check side premotor filter.
Does it pick up ok when using to vacuum carpets or is that got bad suction to ?
