I have a Brother HL-3040cn printer, led display says "unable to print 1A" how do i clear this? It also says to turn the power off and open the top cover wait 30 minutes then turn it back on. But this doesnt work?

Hi,

There is always an option to reset the printer using the printer control panel, just navigate to settings and factory reset or restore defaults. If this doesn't give a fix, then use a hard reset procedure:

1. unplug the power cord
2. push the power button and keep it pressed for 10 seconds and while you keep it pressed, plug in the power cord and that will do a hard reset of your printer. then release the power button and try to print something.

unable to print 70 is a Head problem or purging unit problem error code... better contact brother service

Print unable 1A indicates condensation forming inside the machine. If the condensate drops on to the main circuit board (positioned just under a metal bar that acts as a moisture condenser) you have a terminal fault. If your machine is still reporting a 1A error after two weeks in relatively dry conditions, it is probably all over bar the burial ceremony.

Drum might need cleaning or replacement.

Check the drum!!

Please try to remove the program for a brother and then desconnect the cable, Turn on the printer and try enter in menu to print a test if that is working try to connect the cable in the printer and add the program of the brother in your computer.

The HL-2070N gets stuck in a toner end-of-life error condition. Perform the following to clear :
With paper loaded, new toner in,

Open front door
Turn off printer
While holding down the GO button, turn printer back on
When all four LEDs light up release GO button. All LEDs will turn off
Press the GO button 2 times. The 3 LEDs (toner, drum, paper) will light up solid
Press the GO button 5 times
Paper light will be blinking
At this point the toner end-of-life condition has been reset. Close front door.
BTW, I got this from Brother Support. Also, just a reminder, timing is important here so don't pause between button presses.

Replace the fuser assembly unit.

Definitely the fuser got problem. This can be confirm by pressing the Go button and only the Toner LED will light up.

What had happen was right after the power blackout the fuser has fused together both rollers (heating drum and rubber roller) where the paper pass through in between the rollers. Since there was a power blackout, the printer fan has stop functioning and the heat was unable to disperse out from the printer. Suggest to improve on design to disperse heat using aluminium cage in case of power blackout.

Who ever has a Brother HL-2040 should definitely use together with a UPS.
