If you run the speakers FROM the main you should have BOTH the effects and the EQ invilved with your signal.

The first thing is to verify you are setting the effects up correctly. The effects send control at EACH inout channel MUST be set to a level that generates a mixing bus that feeds the effects. These are the bright red knobs riight above each channel's black gain control knob... Start out with these at 12 o'clock for those inputs you want effects on. Dial which effect you want. Adjusting the "time" will control the amount of delay time on some effects. Adjust the two knobs that send the effects level to the main and mon. Start with those at 12 o'clock.
There is a defeat switch... that likely toggles turning the effects on and off.Advance the effects controls at each channel to a point below where the effects clip light comes on. Controll the ampunt of effects should be by those two effect controls to the right of the effects selection. Since there are so many things to set, often users fail to set one thing and the effects don't work. Assuming now you have set the effects up correctly, CAN YOU get the clip light at the effects to come on by turning up the EFX knob at an ACTIVE inout channel? You should be able to cause it to come on with say a vocal mic that has adequate input. This is the first test in analyzing if the effects has a problem.

The clip light to the effects will come on but no effects are comin through. Even with non powered speakers ran through the mains on the back the effects still do not work. It's been through a lotta wear and tear so somethin inside may have went out

Since the clip light will come on, the effecs mixing buss is working. I assume you have craanked the efx to main up high... Note that some effects are very subtle. Pick a far out one for testing. I have not found a schematic yet... Two things to try: Behringer selects their effect and ACTIVATES it by pushing in on the effects selection button... on the chance that the Peavey does, see if the switch pushes in. Another thing... on the possibility that the EFX defeat JACK has shorted, plug in an instrument cable that is open ended at the other end and test. Now ALSO measure if there is any voltage at the open end of that cable. I would expect to see about 5 volts. IF we don't see that voltaqe I SUSPECT that a 5 volt power source within the unit has failed... the EFX often run on 5 volts and nothing much else does... again I wish I could find a schematic. Anyway, there are three things to test and try.

I have a Peavey XR 8600 PA, I have tried adding an external vocal effects module into a mic line but it drops the output volume of the entire PA by about 75%. Any ideas why this is?

Well, I would say it isn't dropping the level of "the whole pa", it is just dropping the level of the input you have plugged the fx into. Check the settings on your fx unit, there are usually input, output and mix controls that are independant of "the pa" and affect the amplitude of the signal going into your mixer from the fx unit.

I have a Peavey 8600D can I safely run 1 main

When you unload one amplifier you stand the chance of killing the amp's output transistor. If you must use only one speaker, you have to bridge the amps.

Can you run a powered mixer without a speaker load

The only thing the power does is power the speaker outputs. (Main out) or (aux out if available)
so if u want to just use the headphone jack or whatever it is your doing your not going to hurt the mixer by turning it on without speakers connected to it.
Q: What is it that u are doing?

I'm using the Peavey XR 8600 with two EV Force i 25 speakers. My question is this, what is the difference between the two outputs on the Peavey? I naturally assumed one was left and one was right....

DO NOT parallel more than two 8 ohm speakers on either output and you will be OK. You could also use one speaker on each output. That would be easier on the equipment as it would be an 8 ohm load on each instead of a 4 ohm load on one of the internal amps. If you want to drive stage minitors, then you existing setup is fine and you will connect the monitors to the second speaker output and set the Mon switch as MAIN/MON.

I Have a Peavey XR 600B mixer. There are only 2 inputs in the rear for speakers. I want to add more speakers to be used as monitors or just have extra speakers. How can this be done? I only have...

First off it's outputs to your speakers. If you had an extra set of powered or amplified speakers you could "Y" cable your speaker outputs. Your passive speakers won't work without an amp. You really need powered speakers or an amp for your extra speakers. (if you had powered/amp'd speakers you could run them off one of you "aux" out for monitors. Do not daisy chain your speakers connecting twi together, you'll change the resistance/ohms and damage your speakers. Trust me, I do this for a living.

I want to use both speaker outputs for loudspeakers on my Peavey 8600 without splitting the watts. How do I hook up monitor speakers in this situation? Can another mixer be patched into the front? I have...

Sorry, but this unit does NOT support "bridged" mode. You will have to drive seperate speakers from the two seperate outputs. You would NOT get any more power if you could do bridged mode than you could with 4 ohm speakers on each of the two output channels.

Hello, What is the proper way to connect an Ashly XR1000 Crossover and a Pyle Pro PTA1400 power amp to my Peavey XR8600 so I can use 2 subs? The subs are not powered, but do have a passive crossover...

Here is a link to the manual: I didn't look at the manual for the crossover but this is probably the way I would do it. Look at page 13 in the manual : Come out of the Main out (31 in the diagram) into the main in of your crossover. Go out of your crossover Hi and Mid out setting back into Power amp In 1 (labelled 32 in the diagram). Hook your speakers that you normally use to the output jacks on the back of the Peavey. Make sure you match the output impedances. Go out of your crossover low output into the Pyle power amp and out of the Pyle into your subs. Make sure the impedance ratings of all your speakers match the output impedances of your amps. You will only be running in Mono mode as that is the signal output of the Peavey mixer. You can run faux stereo by using the Main monitor Out as 1/2 the pair and the Main Out as the other 1/2 to both channels of the crossover but you won't be getting a true stereo pan mode.
