My dehumidifier is leaking out the bottom on the opposite side of the hose connection. I have checked the hose connection, the water bucket and cleaned the filter. The unit was purchased last summer and has worked well until recently.

If water is coming out on the floor from your Comfort Site dehumidifier even when the bucket is not overflowing, there may be a few possible causes for this issue:

It sounds like your dehumidifier needs to be professionally cleaned. What could be causing the problem is a buildup on the inside of your dehumidifier where the water drains out and it is causing the water to not drain properly. Additionally, I would check to verify that the drain hole is tightly secured with the plug. I know you stated that the bucket is not leaking but have you removed it to verify? I have a similar model. There are two drains, one for the hose and one directly into the bucket. The hose one is supposed to be lower, but I had to put a 3/8 inch block under the right side of the unit to get the water to favor the hose instead of the bucket. Another possibility is that the far end of the hose is higher than the near end. If you can't lower it, you can put the whole dehumidifier up on blocks. One other thing to check is that the hose has a rubber washer in it where it connects to the unit. Use a tissue to see if this connection is dry. If it leaks, it will just drip into the bucket.

I encountered a similar problem (using the bucket, but still getting water leaking onto the floor) with my 970E-E. The problem is a design flaw. If the bucket is not firmly pressed into the dehumidifier, there is a slight air gap between the bucket and the dehumidifier on the left side. Within the gap, warm moist environmental air cools. Water condenses in the gap and pools up at the bottom of the bucket shelf, eventually spilling over onto the floor. You can check and see if this is your problem by pulling out the bucket and inspecting for droplets along the left side of the bucket shelf. My solution was the bungie the bucket into the shelf firmly so that there is no air gap.

The clog is not in the hose. It's in the hose connection tube inside the unit. To unclog it use an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar that is flexible and will fit into the hole. NO wire coat hangers though. Gingerly work it into the hose connection hose, until you reach a bend in the tubing. This is the tricky part, as you have to get past this bend. Be careful and work it past the bend. Once the Zip Tie bottoms out or you run out of Zip Tie, slowly pull it back out while rotating it. This will dislodge the clog. Once the Tie is almost all the way out, be prepared for water to follow.

One other thing. If the unit stops operating check that the bucket full light is illuminated. If it is remove the bucket and empty the contents and then check the seal between the hose and the drip tray. If there is a small leak then replace the hose gasket and re-tighten the hose.

FYI - Your humidifier does not have a pump. It relies entirely on gravity to drain, when you use the hose connection.

Based upon my experience with the same problem on my Kenmore 54701 last summer: The condensate water collects in a plastic pan below the coils. This pan has a single drain hole where the water flows down into the bucket. When I suddenly found water puddling on the floor instead of in the bucket, I opened up the unit, and I found that the collection pan's drain hole had become blocked by "bioslime". I cleaned out the goo from the drain hole, and the problem was solved.

Mine did this last year. I took the housing off of the left side and found a clear plastic tube had popped off the fitting, I put it back on and it worked fine. The tube was toward the lower front of the unit.

We came home to this problem the other day, water all over the basement, leaking out the bottom left side, nothing in the collection basin but plenty would spill out if I tipped the unit forward. After searching the web and these forums I theorized that the coils were frozen. I let the unit thaw. No luck. I removed the faceplate and discovered thick, wet silt had filled the internal collection plate and was clogging the drain. I stuck a pipe-cleaner through the drain and the problem was fixed. Took some paper towels and cleaned the whole thing. Works like new. I assume the unit will need to be cleaned regularly to keep it going. To remove the faceplate, unscrew the two phillips' head screws under the faceplate along the sides, then take a flat head screwdriver and pop the tabs holding the face on, one tabe along each side. There are also two tabs on top, but you don't need to mess with those, as they simply act against gravity. Whole thing just clips back together after cleaning. I have no idea if this voids the warranty.
