If dirt and dust are blowing out anywhere that they shouldn't be, it's a sure sign that something's plugged farther on up the line. You'll need to disassemble the unit and clear the clog before anything will go through to the dirt cup. Also, as long as you're going to be taking it apart, check all the filters. This is a notoriously neglected part of bagless vacuums, and a very large part of why they start to lose the initial level of vacuum power. Clean the ones you can clean, replace the ones you can't. Walmart and Meijer's are a couple of places where you might find replacements.

It seems it must be blowing out from somewhere. Try to figure out where by feeling for air blowing to try to determine where it's coming from and why.

Hi! We actually don't recommend opening the motor compartment. It sounds like there may be a clog somewhere in the vacuum that you are unaware of. Please try following the steps below.

Remove the hose from the vacuum from both ends and check it for clogs.

Lay your vacuum face down, remove the bottom guard and brush-roll

Use a wooden spoon or something similar to help break up and remove any clogs from the lower hose.

Check and clean all the filters on the vacuum. If they are really dirty they may need to be replaced.

Check the leak (where the dust come from); maybe you need to tighten or reseat one or more part in that area.

My Dyson blows air out the front of the ball.

I've put in new bag and filters and there is dust coming out of the air vents. Where am I going wrong.

If a previous bag burst then it may just be the residual dust from that. I suggest you start by taking out the bag and filter and purging by switching on for a minute (don't actually vacuum with it and take it outside before you switch it on)
Eventually there will be no dust coming out then replace the bag and filter and if it is still blowing dust out then you will need to look for another problem.

Dust blows out of the filter vent is usually caused by a plugged filter drop the filter door on the back, replace or for a temporary fix blow out the filter

Replace filter in the front as it gets loaded with dust and needs replacement. Also clean filter under canister.

Take to Walmart, plug it in and start to vacuum THEIR floors!
Try removing the dust container and look for anything blocking airflow including the HEPA filter. Make sure the dust cup has a seal where it joins the vacuum. The fix is probably simple, but it shouldn't be up to you to do so!

i had this trouble and it turned out someone in my household had tossed out the filter with the rest of the dirt. you may have lost yours along the way since it's relatively easy to throw out.
