Hold down the Fn key (between the left Ctrl and Alt keys), and press F5 twice, (the first press brings up the present setting, the second selects the next option). This scrolls through the screen display selections LCD - CRT - LCD &CRT - TV - TV&LCD.
If this is set on TV, you will get no display on LCD (Screen) or CRT (external monitor)
Also, When using an external monitor, you may need to plug in the monitor, before cold booting your computer (not from hibernate or standby) so that your computer will "see" the monitor, and allow it to be used.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Toshiba satellite turns on but power light blinks and screen is blank

Start as basic as you can, remove everything you can, RAM, HDD, modem (if equipped), WiFi card, optical drive, etc. It should beep when powered up, complaining about missing RAM. Install RAM and see if you can get it to POST. If so, install 1 item at a time until it stops working. Bad part found.

If it doesn't complain about the ram, it's probably a bad system board. If it does complain, but doesn't post with the RAM in, it could be still be a bad stick of RAM or a bad RAM socket on the board, try one at a time, and in each of the sockets.

Satellite pro L300 screen is blank. Power light is on (green), battery light is yellow, HDD light is off.

Sounds like it's broke. Blank screen means it's broken, battery light is yellow I beleive it means time to replace the batteries.

I don't know "where" you worked on it, but I hope you were'nt standing on carpet when you did.If everything is connectrd the way it was, then the only thing I can think of is ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) damage.
