I dropped my CANON IXUS 65 on tarmac, while lens was extended. Thereafter would not retract and lens error. The IXUS 65 is european version of USA SD60 or SD630 Digital ELPH.
Tried pushing the lens back as explained below, clicked , but still would not work. I disassembeled the camera and removed the lens/motor assy. Then disassembeled the lens assy. 1 tiny pin had become dislodged causing the problem. 2 more of same tiny pins fell out. Now im not yet sure how/where they go back into place. If I cannot figure it out I see one can buy a new lens assy for circa $30 and just install it. I used my mobile phone camera to take video and shots of the disassembly steps. This to help re-assemble. I also disassembeled/ reassembeled several times as its trick and lots of tiny screws. To remove the pcb cables one gently pulls them using a small plyers or plastic gripper. [email protected]
