I have a V3m with newer Verizon software and I'm trying to send myself some .wav files for ring tones. My friend has an enV and it says in his option menu to save as ring tone, but my razr is only allowing me to save the files as sounds and then I can't do anything with them beside send them to someone else. Is there any way to save them as ring tones and I'm just overlooking it or am I doomed?

Re: Saving Ring Tones
Motorola is capable of saving ringtones to the phone. Motorola actually allows the transfer of files via bluetooth and within MMS but the providers software is what actually stops it. If you want to use the .wav file you will need to have it converted .mp3 since it is fully recognized by the phone.

there are many websites offering some ring tones, here are some of them http://www.getjar.com http://www.sharemobile.com http://www.mobile9.com http://www.nokia.com/ringtones just browse the websites and look for the appropriate extension file for your ringtone. example... badboy.mp3, badboy.wav,badboy.mid, badboy.amr
No no Sir, you can't use Mp3 format as a ringtone in Nokia 6600, the format you were using before was WAV, you just need to convert all your Mp3 tones to WAV using this free tool.
Transfer the Converted WAV tones in your Cell and Enjoy.
check the option of "discoverable to other" option in ur blue tooth option then u'll be able receive data and ring tone...copy ur tones to mydevice\windows\rings..then u'll b able to set ringtones...also may b ur mp3 tunes will not work..if not then u have to conver it to .wav or .arm..
"Ringback" generally refers to the music people hear when they call your phone. You have to set that up thru Verizon (or other carrier).
If you're talking about ring tones (what YOU hear when the phone rings) that's easy. Look for a folder called "Rings" inside the Windows folder on your phone. If you put an audio file (wav, mp3, etc) in that folder, it will become available as a ring tone.
In order to use tones other than the presets for text messages, you have to put new .WAV files on your phone.
Any 8bit .WAV file will work; just connect with ActiveSync and navigate to your /Windows directory on your phone, and place the files there.
You will then be able to use them as text message alert tones.
