Never had that one before either. I'd try an initial clear. This will make the register attempt to stop the current transaction, and return to register mode.
Turn power off at wall.
Turn the key to P mode.
Hold down the lower right button on the keyboard. This is usually CASH, but it depends on your button layout. It must be the bottom right-most button.
While holding it, turn power on at wall.
An initial clear receipt will print. It might take a few seconds, so hold the button until the printer runs.
Now turn the key back to R (reg mode) and try it. You may have to log back on with a clerk number, as they will often log anyone out after this process. If you see "CLOSED", then you definitely must log a clerk on.
