When you need to delete the photos from the SD memory card, do not use your computer to do it. Use your camera to format the SD memory card. To fix this problem, insert the SD memory card in your camera then go to the camera's Menu and format the SD memory card.
My suggestion is to get a card reader which will read your memory card. Then copy all photos to your computer. Next delete what you want from the list on the computer. There are a lot of other free viewers which will read and view the .jpg files or other kinds of photo files.
You can also try this: Go to the Sony website and find your camera, usually under support and downloads or some thing like that. Download the newest version of the software you need. It should all be there for the taking. There may also be upgrades for what you already have on your computer. See: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DSCT30&LOC=3
