Okay "normally" when the memory card is installed the camera reverts back to the memory card from the internal memory. Two things might be happening here one the internal memory needs to be downloaded to the memory card then saved to the computer and the internal memory card formatted. then the memory card formatted to clear those pictures. And or there is a setting switch in menu or set up that you need to manually switch from internal memory to memory card.

I know when I read this over it made scents so you might need to read it a few times to get the idea of what I'm telling you needs to be done

Your card is probably good. Go into the camera's setup menu and find the picture storage or memory section. Select external memory as default and you should be good to go.

I go to replay a video on my camera and all my videos are there to see but when I select one a white screen comes up and in the lower left corner it says "No applicable files available"

This message appears if data on the hard disk / internal memory / memory card of the camcorder is handled directly with the computer. When you handle data of the camcorder, use the supplied software, PMB.

If you directly handle files or folders of the camcorder from the computer, image files may be damaged or not be played back. Return the files or folders to the condition before handling, or format the recording media with the camcorder.

* If you format the recording media, all movies and still images including protected ones will be deleted.

* Sony will not accept responsibility for any results caused by handling data on the recording media from the computer.

This is the same to the images in the camera, if you have to do something with the images in your camera by PC, you won't playback it too.

My finepixZ20fd says ''images recorded to internal memeory'' and won't transfer the photos to the computer when the USB is connected.

The message "images recorded to internal memory'' is just a warning, that there is no memory card in the camera. It doen't necessarily mean that there are any images saved in the internal memory.
The message should rather have been "images will be recorded to the internal memory"

Sony CX-12 Camcorder gives message when memory stick inserted

Hi!
This is a feature and not a defect of the CX-12 that reminds the user that the memory stick inserted might not be able to record the data from the camera effectively. HD video requires a memory stick with a relatively fast data read/write speed, and the CX-12 recommends not using any other stick that is not Mark 2.
Fortunately, though, as you have found out, it does not affect the camera's ability to record in non-Mark 2 sticks.
Hope this helps!

Images recorded to internal memory

They should be accessible by removing the memory card (if present) and powering up the camera. You should be able to view them using the playback icon (arrow). Access to erasing them should then be through the menu.

You can add memory to your camera by purchasing an xd memory card.
Compatible cards
xD-Picture Card (16MB – 1GB)
There are two ways to record the pictures you take with this camera.
Recording pictures to the internal memory
• Pictures are recorded to the internal memory, and when the number of storable still
pictures reaches 0, you must connect the camera to a computer to download the
pictures, and then erase the pictures from the internal memory.
Using an xD-Picture Card (optional)
• Pictures are recorded to the card when inserted in the camera. When the card is
full, you download the pictures to a computer, and then either erase the pictures
from the card or use a new card.
• Pictures are not recorded to the internal memory when a card is inserted in the
camera. Pictures in the internal memory can be copied to the card using the
[BACKUP] function.

• If you use a non-Olympus card or a card used for another application, such as for
a computer, the message [CARD ERROR] is displayed. To use this card with this
camera, use the [FORMAT] function to format the card.
