Under the cover of your machine where the feet are stored, on the right side, front of your machine is a round button which controls the brightness of your display. It was probably moved during cleaning.

Unfortunately that is the touch screen. The part is no longer available for this model (unless your local shop happens to have a used one). Reset will not help. Sorry

Digital display is not lighting up

Bad connector, blown board, blown display? Will it stitch in whatever the default stitch is when you do turn on the power to the machine? If so, it's likely just the display. Either way, it's likely to be a take it to the shop fix because opening the case voids the warranty.

I powered my machine on and there was a black line down the screen. The machine still sews and embroiders but I would like to know what caused this and is this major?

If there is a black line down, or across the display and the line is there no matter what 'information' is being displayed, I'm afraid it sounds like there's a row or column of pixels (or actually, it's the display driver) that has gone faulty on your LCD display and the only solution is to have the display replaced. It will not affect the operation of the machine at all and may be an isolated failure. You dont state what model of machine this is, so I cant give you an idea of price, but it does require the front panel to be removed and the main processor board to be taken out to get at the display ... for this reason, you must have the work done by a decent Bernina service agent that has the proper anti-static protection on their work-bench - static can cause long-term problems with machines if not properly discharged. It's not a cheap repair, so you may just want to put up with it, unless, of course, it's still under warranty (2 years for electronic parts).

I went to use my Bernina 640 after 18 months of storage, and it will not turn on. The screen is blank and the light is not on. The outlet is working, and I triple checked all connections. It just...

Are none of the lights on .... for example, is the sewing light on or the display backlight, even if there's nothing displayed on the screen. If it's completely dead, there may be a problem with the power supply 'L'-print module, but before you go poking-around, please make sure that the machine is dry and has not got damp in storage. Open the bobbin door and check that there's no sign of brown stains around the rotary hook (shuttle). Does the mechanism move OK when you turn the handwheel ? It's important to know whether damp has got into the machine because if-so it's essential to have the machine properly dismantled and dried BEFORE applying power for a long time, since this can destroy the main processor board, which is very expensive to replace.

My screen has gone dark and no lights up. What can I do?

Does it have a variable light knob somewhere that has been knocked turning the display down? I know my 6500 has one.
