We just had the same problem. We took off the three screw on the back to remove the top panel on washer. From there we took the screws off the electric face plate on the front. Be careful, there is a screw located inside the door. You must open the door to get to the screw. Next we removed the bottom panel door and then the four screws to the mail metal panel on the front. Hold that panel because the rubber gasket is still connected. Then you will see a rubber hose directly under the drawer. Take the rubber hose off at the bottom nearest the drum. We found a sock that had wedged itself up and was causing a back up. After I cleared it, the washer works just fine.

SOURCE: whirlpool duet frontload washer leak

a quart of water over the course of a cycle is pretty significant, other then trying to remove the fabric softener section looking for a blockage in the dispensor(which is basic and should be real evident ) theres not much more for you the consumer to look for.(or should you have to for that matter its why you bought a NEW appliance). As for the service , you've purchased a Whirlpool product, therefore you can call any whirlpool authorized Company out to service you dont need to wait for Sears!!!!!!!

SOURCE: whirlpool duet washer leaking badly

You could have a clog in the housing underneath the dispenser where the water flows through a hose into the tub.
Pull the dispenser drawer completely out.
There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer and remove it.
Check the opening at the bottom of the housing just inside the dispenser housing opening to see if a small sock or garment is clogging this opening.
Reach down into this opening to see if an item is inside the hose.
This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing.

Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Replace the dispenser drawer and try the washer again.

Whirlpool duet sport is clogged. Water is bypassing the detergent dispenser, and leaking out of the washer. No water is entering the washer. HOw can it be unclogged?

If you take the drawer out you may be able to gain access to where the clog is, if not remove the lid of the machine and you will see the fill hose from the drawer to the tub. You may be able to remove the pipe without removing the dispenser housing or you may be able to get to the blockage by removing the pipe from the drum.

Whirlpool Duet frontloader washer's dispenser stays filled

I had a similar problem, but mine was with the detergent side. I removed the top of the washer and had to clean the dial that advances to let the cyle of dispensing continue. It worked, but now the machine shakes and I am told is 'unbalanced'

Water leaking

There is a small plastic "gate" that is left down for liquid detergent and moved back and up for powder detergent. If this piece is left down and powder detergent is used, the water leaks and the detergent won't go into the washer properly.
