I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4064 laptop and it work just fine except when I try to charge the battery. When I plug in the adapter, none of the lights will come on. Yesterday they would blink a few times if the cord was in the right spot or would turn the power cord connector at the back of the laptop when it was plugged in. Is there something wrong with the jack? How do I fix it? Please help me.
If you put strain on the jack (e.g. hang power adaptor from it whilst using or charging) then the socket on the mainboard can get hot due to poor contact and melt.
There is no way to fix this except to completely dismantle the laptop and fit a new socket - most likely a repair centre will charge you for a new mainboard.
Try another adaptor to see if that is the problem (broken wire in cord) - otherwise look closely at the socket in the notebook.
